KNK Retreat Announcement!

March 30, 2011 By Chris Durnan

I am posting this KNK retreat info on my blog and forum because I have had so many emails asking me about the KNK recently (and because I have one of these machines so I can speak personally of its use.). Part of this I think is because of the Make the Cut changes and some of this is because of the ever growing need for those of us passionate about machines to want to grow and expand. I have been to one of these retreats and if it works out and comes to the Arizona area, I will attend again. I purchased a KNK many many years ago and it is a big yellow beast as I call it. It runs all the time and gets put through its paces. I am looking toward an upgrade in  my near future, but more on that later. For those of you interested this is a class limited to 20 participants, if you would like more info you can visit Sandy’s site. http://www.iloveknk.com/ (And if you are interested in the machine visit Sandy’s site, I know she has a slide show of all the things she has cut on their somewhere. This is important for all those  who run a business as well. )
If you are serious about the full use of your machine, this is a great way to get started, refresh and get lots of time with your cutter.
I took my hubby to the retreat I attended. Well he came with the little one to hang out at the hotel. Having him there to ooh and ahh over the bigger machine and what it can do just made me grin from ear to ear.  Let’s face it folks. Guys like tools. And this is the ultimate male + woman bonding collection a paper cutter that looks like a real tool/machine. Haha. My craft robo was such a let down for my hubby. My KNK beast came and my hubby said “that is a machine, Nice!” woohoo!
Enough yacking from me. Here is the information.
Come join us in Columbus, Ohio for a weekend filled with Klic-N-Kut classes, demo’s, and loads of fun!

For this price, you receive 5 excellent meals, free goodies, 6 – 7 classes, 3 – 4 demos, class notes and files, dozens of free videos to take home, cutting materials and prizes! The room will open at 1:00 pm with the Meet and Greet starting at 4:00 pm. Dinner will be served at 6 pm, followed by a class, demo and workshop. If your spouse would like to join us for one or more meals, let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll find out the cost for that.
This weekend retreat is available for up to 20 attendees and we’ll have a waiting list in case of cancellations.  So reserve your spot by:
(1)  Emailing me back to let me know you PLAN to attend. If you do not receive a response within 24 hours, then please email again to sandy@iloveknk.com.  Sometimes emails get lost! I’ll then send you an application form to complete.
(2)  Sending a $100 deposit to our event organizer, Diane Daniher. I will provide you her mailing address after you let me know you plan to attend. If you prefer, we also accept Paypal payments.
The deadline for making your deposit is April 15th.  The $295 balance will be due by May 25th.
Details on classes and demos will be provided after I have gathered information about all of you and what you want to learn!   : )
Can’t wait to see you in Columbus!

layout with Chris Durnan’s cupcake file

March 29, 2011 By Chris Durnan

Chris made some darling football themed cupcake wrappers for her Quarterly Membership Club. I used one to layer on top of the G for the title for this layout about our Super Bowl munchies. You can find Chris and all her fabulous cutter files here. I just love how versatile her files are!

LO: Senior Awards using two VDBC files

March 28, 2011 By Chris Durnan

Photos from Sierra’s Senior awards ceremony.  I enhanced the photo on the right side in PSE8 adding the names along the bottom of the photo and creating a glow to sort of quickly find Sierra amongst all of her goofy friends.

On the left side, I used a VDBC file #CD00725 FLOURISH FRAME.  This cut so smoothly and is an absolutely beautiful frame.  I added just a bit of black ink so you could see it as it was layered on the patterned circle.  I used a Mojo Sketch 182 (http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/).

For the right side, I used VDBC file #CD00632 ACROSS THE PAGE.  This also cut very smoothly.  However, I was using a short piece of paper and had it turned the wrong  way so it didn’t cut the full 12″ across.  Happy mistake I suppose because I really like that it doesn’t go the full length of the layout.  Added a bit of blank ink for texture.  This side was Mojo Sketch 183.  Sheer ribbon was tied and then wrapped to the back and taped.

Supplies:  I picked up the patterned paper this week from FKS (sorry don’t know the manf.). It was double sided so the stripe and floral are the same sheet of paper.  It is beautiful paper!  Prima flowers.  Glitter brads from Hobby Lobby.  Bling from Hobby Lobby (Paper Studio and Prima).  “awards” is cut from Quickutz Marissa font.

cupcakes and muffins.

March 28, 2011 By Chris Durnan

I had a fun time this week completing this layout.  My daughter at her 4th birthday.  I used Chris’s Cupcake and Muffins  file for the little cupcake embellishments.  I thought they nicely mirrored the cupcakes in the patterned paper.    The other supplies I used were:   Basic Grey patterned paper,   Stampin up glaze, Paper studio Chipboard,  CTMH metal edge tags.  Miscellaneous Buttons.

Enjoy,   Rosalie

Stickles wall

March 23, 2011 By Chris Durnan

This is my Stickles wall. A few people emailed me and asked how I store
mine. This way the air bubbles are out and they are ready to go. I am
addicted to pegboard. This tool holder holds the little ones perfectly! I
think for the tools you are supposed to hang them in the other slots but the
wider are perfect for the stickles. On one of them I had to spread it to
hold a bottle.

I had a few emails asking where I got them and some of the colors. I asked
for them for Christmas from abc distributing. They had 8 I think for $8.00.
My mahvelous Mother in Law got them for me. So they are so much fun to play
with. And my kiddo has been adding to the decorated heart. When he is done
filling it in with all the stickle I am gonna hang it on the wall above the
stickle wall for show. Haha. Anyways I went to check abc and they had 8 for
6.00 right now. ( I am an abc distributing junky!)

I am working on QMC files and have been uploading them. By today I should
have 20 up and then the last "icing on the cake".

So that's my update from me for now!
Have a wonderful day
Enjoy!

Who doesn’t love Stickles?

March 22, 2011 By Chris Durnan

Gave my kiddo a wooden heart and told him he could decorate it. Apparently we really wanted to try as many stickles colors as possible. Love it! Enjoy! Chris

Welcome to Monday!!

March 21, 2011 By Chris Durnan

The last week of Spring Break and this morning my son says… “ I had a dream about school.. I miss school.” I had to smile. He said this from bed buried under his blankets and blankets. And it was 9 a.m. he would have been very late for school, but he went to bed late. Thursday we are getting back to our schedule for now I am glad to be a little more relaxed. Last week we didn’t spend a lot of time doing fun spring break things, but this week should be better. We have plans to visit the news station with scouts, skating, visit Aunt Nannees and see her new camper, and go to a friends house, and Scout A Rama. Somewhere in there I will fit in some work.  So it should be a great week before going back to school.

I hope you had a great weekend! We celebrated St. Patty’s Day at my “in-love’s” house. I could not be more blessed with such a great set of parents from my hubby.  It was a ton of fun with lots of family there and things to play and do. My hubby missed his St. pat’s day songs. O-Danny-Boy and the like, but he dealt. No one else wanted to sing. J My kiddo would have. We listened to his Karaoke machine off and on all weekend. On Saturday, my kiddo took first place in the Raingutter Regatta for Scouts. Raingutters sealed at the ends and filled with water. The boys ran two at a time against eachother blowing them with or without straws down their raingutter to a win! Very cute and very fun. Then there was a birthday party for a friend’s son. My kiddo had so much fun and he got to decorate a soda bottle for a rocket that works with a combination of air from a bicycle pump and water. I was elated to see this. Yeah! We are doing this next month for Scouts for Rocket Derby. All I could think was “cha-ching” mark that off my to-do list for April yeahooo!! Nice to have something done before the month even begins.

I did a lot of sketching and noting this weekend for my final files for the QMC. This made me happy. I felt a little stumped, but think I have the last few set and plans of what to do. Now to get them all up. Yeah!

Well I wanted to welcome you to another week!! I hope it is a wonderful one and you find lots of time to craft and create!

Enjoy!

Light my fire… #CD00529

March 12, 2011 By Chris Durnan

Our Mikie Boy enjoying the fire place.  Used just the fire portion of file #CD00529 Roasting Marshmallows from Visual Designs by Chris.  The title is cut using Quickutz Calvin. This was going to be a quick layout.  LOL but then I tried using the sewing machine which never cooperates.  I am certain it is operator error.  *smile*  The machine pierced the holes but I went back and used a thick thread and hand sewed it.  I like the thicker look better.  I hadn’t planned to use hearts here but the sewing machine ripped a hole clean through the paper so I covered it with the hearts.  The larger one was cut using my Accu-cut machine and the primative heart die from chipboard.  The smaller one is a punch.  Inked them up with Distress inks… Wild Honey, Marmalade, Tea Dye and Brick red.  Then added buttons that I thread before glue dotting.  The fire and the smaller heart are pop-dotted.  Patterned paper is some old Kaleidescope.
