The Badlands and Sketch challenge

April 13, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I had some time to finish some layouts this weekend. The first one is my version of the April sketch. I must admit that I did not use the die cuts that Chris provided. I had every intention to cut the title and diecuts, but when I opened the package of Basic Grey, It had a tree die cut and I thought….. I don’t even have to turn on my computer. Yep! Lazy scrapping. The second page is a collage of all the cute pictures of my kids jumping in the leaves.

Here’s a layout from our South Dakota trip. I used several of Chris’s files.
Here’s the link to the South Dakota files in the store: Here I also used her scalloped circle. The other supplies used were Page maps sketch, bazzill cardstock, kelly panacci patterned paper, my mind’s eye paper.

Here I am…. woohoo… the party is almost upon us… ahhhh!!!!

April 10, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Where have I been??? Preparing for a birthday party for a 5 year old and uploading files galore to the store for the $1.00 deals this weekend. I could list them all here, but the quickest route is for you to visit the front page of the store. Covers losts of themes. A little of this and a little of that. Easter, Aquarium, Ribbon/Borders etc..
*************
After this post.. .I am off to do laundry,
mop the floors,
start 10 lbs of potato salad (no one in my in-laws family will eat the potato salad if it is store bought and at my house.. it is their silent strike for homemade potato salad),
mix the dips that need to sit over night in the fridge before serving.
Look for the streamers to put up.
find the balloons.
see if I have even one moment I could make a cool center piece.
Find the egg dieing kit I bought so we can die eggs this weekend.
Finish cleaning out the rv in case someone needs to stay.
go look at my garden. (because my husband who ROCKKKKSSS has been cleaning up the weeds and preparing it and we planted some plants this weekend) See if I can’ get some green onions in the ground. (I like to plant a row a week for about 9 weeks so that way they aren’t already at once and I work my way through. )
Clean our room
Look into my son’s room (which I started Monday, but he has had to sleep in there so who knows what happened in the last four days)
Sneak some of those “to young” toys out so the new gifts don’t get mixed in with the old.
go through his drawers and pull out the 2T clothing that shoulda been gone last season because he is now in 5T and get them into a bag for my nephew.
Trim the dog hair from my 15 year old cranky puppy.
(she hates to be bugged anymore)
Bathe that cranky dog…
And .. the list…
goes on…
so I better get cracking..
Needless to say if you are here over the weekend. check the dollar deals up in the store til Easter Sunday. If you want direct notice of these dollar deals on a weekly basis then join my yahoo group. It is a newsletter group which means. No conversation just about 1 email a week or 4 a month. With coupons, deals and notices.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
And A Happppy Easter!
Enjoy!

Trains

April 10, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Chris’s newest file uploaded to the QMC is a gorgeous Train and Title file, so new, it isnt even in the Store yet!. My hubby is absolutely crazy about his “N Scale” train set, so this file was perfect for creating into a layout!

I have created this in PS, and applied styles to the various parts of the Train design.

Thanks for looking,

cheers, caz

cupcake wrappers – not just for cupcakes

April 9, 2009 By Chris Durnan

So how cute are Chris’s cupcake wrappers? I wanted to show that they can be used for other things too. Like napkin rings and party favors. The first wrapper is from her everyday collection, which you can find here.

I cut the wrapper, lined it with a paper cupcake holder and filled it with Easter jelly beans. Makes a perfect little party favor.

And then I used two wrappers from her frilly collection, which is here. I cut them smaller, and used them to make napkin rings.

“Moooos Flash!” card

April 9, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I had to use this new file from Chris, called “You’re Gonna What” as soon as I saw it! What fun, this goofy looking cow was just begging to be placed on a card front! This file is also available in this quarters QMC membership, so if you thinking about joining, get onto it! and get this, as well as many other fantastic files, all for one low price!

I have created this card in PS, and so have cheated in the preview 🙂 I have included the Front and the Inside views of the card on the one page so that you can see both views in the one pic. I have only used the cow from Chris’s file and you can see how easy it is to just use parts of Chris’s files or the whole, whichever suits your needs at the time. I adore this cow, and I can see me using it over and over!

Thanks Chris for the “MOO”velous file!!

have a great day wherever you are!

cheers, caz

Turning 5 brings on wisdom and ….

April 8, 2009 By Chris Durnan

MUCH MORE FACIAL HAIR!

So my son got to pick three things from Oriental Traders for the kiddie goodie bags for his birthday. and being we are having a “sheriff” theme for the “bike rodeo” He decided the Villaneous mustache was a must have. I even said that the fact that some of the girls weren’t going to like them and he rolled his eyes at me and said. Everyone likes mustaches. I think later in life he will realize that as a boy he would prefer the mustaches not be on the girls, but for now they will make a great goodie bag item.
I have been adding new files to the store and working new files for the QMC already we are at file number 11 out of the potential 29. So that is exciting and fun.
As for now. I better run and check on my villan.
have a wonderful evening!
Enjoy!

“Owl” take care of You

April 5, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Here is my submission for the Apr09 Sketch Challenge being held over at the Forum. I have used a kit I designed and Chris’s Owl and Tree files supplied FREE for taking part in this challenge! This is a pic of my eldest on a recent trip to visit her and her hubby in their new house in Sydney (Australia). She wasn’t feeling very well, and I snapped the pics whilst she was watching some dribble on the TV LOL

Thanks for looking!

cheers, caz

In Bloom

April 4, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Here is my take on the sketch challenge that Rosalie is hostessing in the forum. The owl file is from the challenge collection. I used doodlebug flocking to give it a feathery type of feel. The patterned paper I believe is from DCWV and the flowers are from Prima. This was a fun sketch to work with, and I really love the look of owls, but never tried incorporating them into my layouts until now. I think I may have to use this one again. 🙂
