New Layout

January 28, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Hi, I have just finished a layout using Chris’s Butterfly Edges available in the Store. I love Butterflies so as soon as I saw this file I knew it had to be one that was added to my collection 🙂

I have used Chris’s file digitally by taking the AI file into Illustrator and saving it as a PDF. I was then able to open it in Photoshop CS3 and work with it as a digital file. I applied a glitter style to the file which I thought was quite effective. I have also used a digital scrapbook kit called “Love Buggies” by Kristin Aagard.
This is a recent photo of my DH, Gary whom I adore!

Thanks for looking!

cheers, Caroline (aussie_caz)

Charming me off my feet.. puppy oinks..

January 27, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Okay… Howdy everyone! Doing well here. Working to cover a few extra spots in life as well as keep my creative side going. I am in that frantic frenzy again where I have to many file ideas in my head. I need a full day of just getting them down and then a full day of test cutting.
So we spent the weekend at a Villa. A nice two bedroom getaway. It was on a golf course. And it was close to my Sister in Laws house. So we got to drop off the kiddo to play with his cousins for two days and then we just spent it relaxing and talking and chatting .Hard to do sometimes when you have a 4 year old who wants to be heard all the time. So we spent some time shopping. We got a few wii games, other items and winter boots for my hubbies upcoming ice fishing trip in Wisconsin. Watched the Dark Knight batman movie (we weren’t impressed. I must be the odd one in the bunch of movie viewers because it didn’t do a whole lot for me. nor for my hubby) We went to dinners and ate to much. We basically took all the gift cards we have and stacked them in a stack. We have a few random ones from here and there and we just went and blew them. It was fun. It wasn’t monies for bills and it wasn’t monies for groceries. It was just fun to do some shopping. Although my hubby can shop. Shop Shop. Wow! I sat down towards the end of the day and said “lets just get a cold drink” hahah. So I had a jamba juice. Love my hubby and the man can shop. wew! Lots of different shops and malls and wondering and even a run through an antique shop we had never been to. I think he was charming me. Charming me off my feet and that he did well! Just the time together was wonderful.
So honestly, kid you not, out of our purchases, I had to walk back in with my receipt at three locations to say. Hey the price on the sticker is not the same. At each place there was no hassle and it was fixed automatically. So when I got groceries today I paid serious attention to the checker and what was being rung up. 2 items in my groceries were a almost dollar more the marked. Wow. So I will be watching that little check out machine a little bit closer for sure.
And what did we do on Sunday after we picked up the kids. Well went to look at puppies. Friends of ours have border collies. We will be bringing one home in a few weeks. Right now they are about 3 weeks old. Super cute and still make the little puppy oinks. And smell so good. My little one can’t stop chatting about it. Here are some pics..

And that’s it for me. I am back at it. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Enjoy!
Chris

Challenges Challenges Challenges – lol

January 24, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I finally finished the challenges :). I did a two page layout for the musical jumble challenge. We

were to use the musical jumble file. At first I thought I’d have to make a card then I remembered our Christmas pictures :). I add the “you make my heart sing” file seeing my son happy does make my heart sing :). Sorry about the uneven scan on the one page.

For the sketch challenge, I enlarged the scalloped piece from the challenge file to used on the left side of the page. Then cut a second one to add to it at regular size to put on the top. I also used Chris’ Home for the Holiday’s file and trimmed the edges to make it look more like an overlay. I finished cutting the small pieces from the challenge file to use for journaling. I cut the tag from a piece of patterned paper.

The two holly charms on this layout were colored with sharpie markers. These and the present and musical note charms from the first layout are from A Charming Place .

Well folks if you need me this weekend I will return your emails after the weekend. I have some wonderful plans with the hubby which I will tell you more about when I get back. Needless to say my little one gets to spend a few days with his cousins. Yeahoooo…

So if you have some questions, visit the forum many folks there to answer them. If they are specific to me, I will get them when I get back.

Really it isn’t much different then what I do on most weekends. But this time I am really going to try to steer clear of the internet and spend some quality time with the hubby! Yeahooo!!

So you have a wonderful wonderful weekend!
Enjoy!

Yeah it’s almost Friday.. 2 new QMC files.

January 22, 2009 By Chris Durnan

So wow. Is it Thursday already? It is a little damp here today, but the little one is out running around and enjoying it. Might as well before it hits 110 and you can’t move outside. So time just disappeared this week. I have kinda sat back and thought wow. What did I get done and how much more do I need to do?? Here are two new files I posted to the QMC for those who are members. For those who aren’t it is a great time to join and get one of the files being used in a challenge at the forum. These were fun to create. the bottom one can be used for a card by putting the score line right along the middle of it. Or use it for journaling. Lots of fun.

And off I go to get more done on the list… almost the weekend and I have busy busy plans then. woohoo!!
Enjoy!

wednesday wednesday..

January 22, 2009 By Chris Durnan

So really today will just be my ramblings about life… Lots of challenges going in the
forum and I will have files to give to everyone for participating. I am blessed with the
best Creative Team ever!!

But back to life… So last night I disappeared. Did you miss me? My hubby got home in the late afternoon. So we threw on our jeans loaded up the horses and headed out to team sorting. It starts at 730 which is kinda late especially since my kiddo goes to bed at 830 but he was game to go. So we got there at 630 and rode around. I went over and checked the list and … :::GASP::: Here I am signed up for 4 runs. I am not the best horse back rider. I love to read horse vet books. (a trivia fact about me for sure) I love to watch horses pass by me running walking etc.. But me riding at break neck speeds pushing cows from here to there. AHHHHH. I am a benchwarmer of riders. So I bit the bullet. First I went to the truck and got my zip up sweatshirt. Because alas I took the older horse to ride and didn’t expect to be doing some trick riding. Hence I did not have a bra on that would withstand bending jumping moving and bouncing around. So I wanted to be covered in case we have any wardrobe malfuction. And honestly if I threw up on the sweatshirt from anxiety I could throw it in the back of the truck for the ride home. Oh that’s right. I can’t puke anymore since my surgery. lovely. Well I went in there on my turns. Smiled. beamed it up. listened to my 4 year old son yelling. You can do it Mom. you can do it. you can do it in slow motion. Get that cow. go faster….. So yeah Wow Serious cheering session. I “peeled” the first cow off the herd of 12 and my hubby on horseback behind me went to go in to the herd and the one I peeled off followed him over. So didn’t work so well. I road two runs with the hubby and one with a friend and one with my son. Each of them very supportive. I finish my runs And my husband… Grinning from ear to ear. I had to look down to check to make sure he was grinning over the skills I had on horseback or the wardrobe malfunction. Wew. Nope he is grinning the proud grin because I blocked the cows and did a good job. My hubby is my hero! Just his smiles lift me up. My little one fell asleep on the way home. Pure exhaustion. He did excellent. I road home in the middle of the front bench seat in our big ‘ol pickup truck. My guys on either side of me. Just enjoying the moment. The family feel and my hubbies hand on me knee. Wonderful. Got the horses put away. the kiddo in bed. Wonderful. Well needless to say. I made it through. Had a good time and will probably sign myself up for a run or two next time we go. I think the first time might be the most nervewracking. Well I hope.. If not, I’ll let you know how it goes next time and will definitely prepare with more functional undergarments. Have a wonderful day!Enjoy!Chris

Today is the day..

January 20, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Today is the day that you have to take a pause and think History has been made. There is a new president. You do not have to agree with all his politics or can you full fledgely agree with everything he says. But you can feel Pride in Our Nation, as I do. Pride that we can come together and vote and have a process where we voice our opinions and elect those in charge. Some countries deal with bloodshed and death over those in charge.

I have the tv on in the background and I cannot imagine the energy that there must be today in that crowd. I don’t think the President alone can push us on the upswing. I think it comes down to all of us as well. He can guide it, but truly as it was up to all of us who vote. It is up to all of us to surge towards a better way. We are responsible for our destinies with our actions and our words. If all the smiling joyous faces that pass over my television screen is a testament to that then we will continue on as Americans. A Nation that when things get tough we help one another, we reach out our hands and support one another. We show what it means to be Proud to be an American.

One Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.
God Bless our Troops, Our Families,
Our Leaders and
Those who Have come before them.
God Bless America.
Enjoy!
Chris
