Welcome to Tricia Cole!

January 15, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Welcome!!!!

Welcome to our new Creative Team member Tricia Cole. Tricia comes to us from the awesome Wishblading Well design team. We are happy to have her a part of our creative team. Below is a little about Tricia and you can see a few of her first projects at the Creative Teams Blog. Welcome Tricia! (while your there check out Rosalie’s use of the latest QMC file. See you later Alligator)

And many of you have already commented on her great work in the forum! So thank you for welcoming her with all your positive comments.

About Tricia…

I’m a 37 year old mother of one Autistic daughter named Alexandria, step mother to a 25 year old son named William and a 22 year old daughter names Judie as well as a very young grandmother to one 18 month old grand daughter named Chloe. I have been scrapping for about 12 years now, and I love every minute of it. I use the QK Silhouette and love it. There is not a layout that I don’t use it on. My scrapping style is eclectic. I love everything and am not scared to try anything. When I am not scrapping I am behind the camera taking pictures of my family and the world around me. I just recently started making cards seriously where it used to be a one time thing that I did quickly and didn’t care how it turned out.

Lots of things happening at the end of the week at VDBC.. So check back again… see ya then!!

Enjoy!

gift bag and tag

January 14, 2009 By Chris Durnan

My husband’s boss always has his Christmas party after the New Year because everyone is so busy. So I needed an extra gift bag for the party. I used Chris Durnan’s card file – Contemporary Happy Holidays – for the bag. I just cut the card front and glued it to the bag, letting the green bag color show through. And for the tag, I used her tag file set – Holiday Tag Package. The bag was a hit, if I do say so myself.

Bouncing Around I know!

January 13, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I tend to bounce around when I scrapbook anymore. I used to do it chronologically, but I have tried a new approach to get over my creative blocks, and it seems to be working well for me. This is a layout from my grand daughter Chloe’s Fall photos. I just love this photo of her. It shows her personality to the “T”. I once again used the Core’dnations cardstock that I just recently purchased for the background. I sanded the top to allow the bottom color to come through which is such the Halloween Purple. Then I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to give it a soft shimmer. The pumpkin border is the bottom layer from the Pumpkin Patch File from Chris. This file is so versatile that is can be used with the top layer for spooky pages or alone for pumpkin patch pages.

Thank yous.. new QMC files.. and just fun stuff.

January 12, 2009 By Chris Durnan

First a few Thank Yous… Thank you to all the familiar faces I am seeing in the store. I really appreciate your support.
Thank you to my hubby for hanging out on a Sunday and watching football while I work and rework new files. And just lending me that smile when I look over at him. I couldn’t do it without him.
Thank you to all the new members to the QMC that I am seeing. It is fun to see all the new folks with cutting machines sharing their excitement.
Thank you to all those who have referred others to me. It really helps me to continue working on new files.
Because I could never completely express my appreciation to everyone. So I will just keep plunking away and trying to provide the best files and club and a helpful community. I truly am blessed. Thank you.
Now on to it…
Been to the membership area lately?
Well there are a few new files in both 4shared and the forum. I try to create files that you can use together or pull them apart and use them how you’d like.
If you are not a QMC Member, I will post the links as I get these loaded to the store in the Fresh Files Discount area. But for now.. here are some pictures…

Party Hardy.

Make a Joyful Noise

Musical Jumble

Also, been to the forum lately? Wow Karen is running a fun game of Bingo. Just to see everyones beautiful birthday cards is worth the visit.

And the creative team members are churning out some awesome pieces which you can see on their blog or you can see in the forum.
We have a new Creative Team Member that comes to us… I will be announcing her this week, but you may have seen her in the forum posting already. We are excited to have her join our team. Beautiful work. She will fit in nicely with our other CT members.
Also, speaking of CT members have you seen Joni’s Crop & Cop story. This story just made me giggle. I was worried about her in the beginning and then it comes out with a happy ending and even re-enactment photos for her scrapbook. I posted it at the forum. or you can visit her blog. to see it. Wow! thanks for the smile Joni. My hubby liked the story and even said. Wow you guys are nutz! ha! Nah just happy!

This week I will be posting info on the Commercial License that has been requested of me. It has gone through a total revamp after listening to many folks on what they would like.

Yes, I will be posting a picture of all of us on horse. My Father-in-law came out to watch us ride on Saturday and probably got the only picture in existence of all of us on horse back. I am hoping it is nice and will post it as soon as he sends it my way.

The current Fresh Files discount is coming down from the store as I reload more files to the store. Thank you to everyone for their specific requests. They will be a coming and will get the discount for the first few days in the store. That’s how it works. You will find them on the front page of the store.
Have a wonderful day! Make it a great week!
Enjoy!!

Finally back to scrapping!

January 10, 2009 By Chris Durnan

It’s been a while, but I’m finally back into scrapping mode here. Here’s a couple that I have done in the past few days. Hope you enjoy them!!
The first one was inspired by my youngest grandson’s letter to Santa. You see, he’s in first grade this year and learning to spell by sounding out the words. It took us adults a while to translate this one. 🙂 I can’t wait until I can show him this in a few years. I’ve decided to make this a yearly tradition and and see the improvement from year to year.
The second is a birthday card made from one of Chris’s latest files. I really enjoyed making this one!
Until next time, HAPPY SCRAPPING!
Karen

Life Ramblings…

January 8, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Wow is it Thursday already!! What a busy week it has been!. For sure. Chilly here to so extra things going on. Things that colder climates are used to. For those of us in the desert, we are just not so prepared for lower temps that happen once a year. Like making sure the pipes are covered and the plants are okay and keeping the horses calm in the arena. We let them all out so they can huddle together to stay warm. Was about 30 the other night and when the hubby went out to feed they were all sleeping on the ground together in one group. Which is nice. Because they do not always get along! The coyotes have been jumping the fence and getting in the trash. RRRRRR!! They wouldn’t normally do this because we keep the dogs out. But with it being so cold they have been locked in the laundry room at night to keep warm. Little disruptions to the regular routine. I have two heelers. One is a full heeler and the other is a mix.

Ruby, up above, loves to be outside. She would rather be outside then inside at all times. So being in the house is a strain on her. Jack, below, however had some accidents growing up. Like cracked leg bones, chipped growth plates.. all of the above.. along with stomach issues. So he hates the cold. He is crabby and just aches you can tell because his ears lay down. I know when to give him a zantac for his tummy just by looking at those ears. I call him Zantac Jack. I always have a supply on hand to help him make it through his tummy problems when they come about.
These two dogs spend their days herding my son. And relaxing on the front porch. And guarding our fences. Which works well for me. We live a few hours from the border and have experienced strangers walking up on the property and peering in the windows a few years back before the perimeter fence went up. If it weren’t for our dogs, I seriously believe they would have broken in. And one female and three unknown men is a scarey situation. My dog Jack below wouldn’t leave my side and was frothing at the mouth as he growled and I stood in the hallway trying to get my husband on the phone. My husband was at a neighbors and flew up the driveway in our big ‘ol truck. I am reminiscing about my hero in his white chariot (ford f250) coming to the rescue. hahah.. Anyways they spend the days herding my son and making sure he doesn’t get to close to anything and will bark at something and alert me right away to any problems. I am sooo blessed to have them. Zantac and all. Jack’s favorite thing is the Tennis Ball. He will chase anything round like snowballs or snag lemons off the tree to play with. The sneak!

So we went to church last Sunday and we have been going to a church in town with family over the holidays. So we went to the one out by us and we walked in and my son whispers… God got a Christmas Tree. I had to giggle and smile. This tree was more noticeable then most because it stood about 12-15 feet high and wasn’t full, but spindly in parts and full in others with a lot of height. Kind of gangly, but as I sat in church and looked at it with its simple ornaments and lights and patchs where you could see the wall behind it. I just thought. It sure is beautifull!!! It made me think of my Grandpa in Wisconsin and trudging out to look at trees on the farm with him. He would point out trees that had patches and holes in them as a prospect to cut down for the tree and I always thought because I was little. “What is he doing there is a big hole!” And now in retrospect he was probably thinking which tree if I cut it down will cause the least of a whole in my windbreak around the house. hahaha. Those lines of trees make great windbreaks in the winter when it is freezing in Wisconsin. My memories of my Grandpa on the farm are very far between because we moved from the farm when I was little to another town and had a house with a few acres. But when things like that pop up on me I cherish them.

The other thing my little one decided to share with us during church… My hubby gave him a dollar to put in the collection. My son is very keen on funds right now. He is saving for Sea World in June and when we purchase Christmas gifts this last year we talked about money and buying things and only having so much to spend and the importance of watching what you spend. These are lessons hards learned at any age. So with this.. My son gets the collection basket and looks up at my hubby and he whispers very loudly and with an incredulous tone.. “We have to pay God to come???” I think my tongue bled for ten minutes after that as I tried not to laugh or giggle outloud. I didn’t hear what my hubbies response was because I had a vaccum in my head from the giggles trying hard to bounce out and my eyes starting to water from the pressure…. hahaha… Love my life.

I better run to get some new files ready for upload. Thank you to everyone for their awesome emails. Have a wonderful day!!

And if you made it this far thanks for listening to my ramblings. haha.

Enjoy!
