Birdday card

May 28, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I needed a quick birthday card and knew Chris’s Happy Birdday file would be perfect. I backed the little bird with the same green from the greeting so his eye and wing would stand out a little from the back ground. Added a little ink on the edges, and it’s ready to be sent!

If you’d like to see this file, you can find it here in Chris’s store.

2nd announcement…

May 28, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I don’t think I am gonna be able to get all these announcements in this week. But here is the 2nd one and I might save the others for next week!
Welcome to Tina Mansfield of Card-I-ology Creations to our store.

Tina has already loaded a few files to our store and has set up a blog to preview those files. Here is her new section in the store. She has some fun and cute files that would be perfect for cards and any project. Tina has been running through the forum helping out. If you have any questions about her files, she will be there to answer them! Join me in welcoming her!

On to life..
So this morning my kiddo and I played some Rockband. I am getting into the rhythm of the drums. My short little squat fingers don’t work so well on the guitar, but I am going to practice that next.

I would chat longer, but I have list of things to complete so I can head to Phoenix this weekend and visit with Lori. woohoo! So excited to go. Will miss my guys, but looking forward to some down time.

Have a wonderful day!

Enjoy!
Chris

She regularly offers cutter files for download and straightforward thoughts on products she has purchased and has tried. It is an easy read as you pass through the blog reading phase of your day or week. I invite you to visit her blog and I would visit before you find her files in the store HERE. because she is offering a discount.

Did you have a wonderful weekend? We did. We spent lots of time with my Dad. The guys in the family put on almost all of a new roof. We ran out of tin to continue on, but it should be going up within the next bit. Have to order it in.

My son just had a wonderful time with his Grandpa and his Cousins. lots of fun. I have to download some awesome pictures to post. Love the bonding time.

For now I must run. My house is a mess and I want it picked up before I sit down to work on cutter files tomorrow. I am working on lots of pieces and cuts. woohoo!.

Have a wonderful evening and if you have a chance check in on Lisa and her files.

Enjoy!

Sing it at the top of your lungs…

May 22, 2009 By Chris Durnan

First Business..

So I have uploaded a few files to the store for the Dollar Deals this weekend. Most of them are of the zoo nature. They are mostly on the front page of the store. HOWEVER, we now have the $1.00 deals section in the categories and you can look through those to get a better listing. Lots of changes going on in the store. So there will be a few announcements coming up next week.

And the most important thing for those who are straddling the fence is… THE QMC is gonna close after this weekend. This quarter has 20 files to so far and the last 9 are in the works. If you want to join in and get those files at a super lower price. Then visit the store HERE and sign up. If you miss out you can sign up for July-Sept when it loads to the store in the next week or so. But the current files won’t be available accept on individual purchase in the store. So jump on in. We’d love to have you.. There is always room for one more.

And that is it for me today on busines.. so on to life..

It is almost the weekend. I am working on all the things to prep for lots of events this weekend. Most important I am thinking about those friends we have lost in the process of servicing the country. Thinking about explaining to my son the great importance of this day and honoring. He recently graduated from pre-k and they chose to do patriotic songs. So they sang God Bless America a few others and Proud to be an American. So my son has been taking this song (because they memorized the whole thing) and breaking it down into pieces and asking us what the lines mean in the song. And we have been explaining it to him. It has been perfect timing to prepare for the weekend. Below are some pictures from the pre-k ceremony.

Yes that is my son conducting in the picture above. He practiced over and over the song because he wanted to be the kid that got the mic part. However, he didn’t make the cut I guess so. He decided if he wasn’t gonna be the guy then he was gonna conduct him. hahah. too cute. And as you can tell He is very SERIOUS about his conducting. haha.

*

And the practicing in our house included the bathroom. I would ask him what he was doing and he was sitting on the floor belting out the words at the top of his lungs on the floor of the bathrom. “What are you doing hon?”” I am singing MOM. It sounds good in here” My son has joined the ranks who sing in the bathroom for the acoustics. IT IS awesome. I love to sing. I had a better voice in my younger days and Now that I have had surgery my throat just is not the same. i can feel I don’t have the power in it and at times it just makes me cough. So I have shied away from singing outloud. But singing with my kiddo around the house makes my day. Sometimes we will sing made up lyrics about what we are cooking. Ever heard an opera about peanut better and jelly sandwiches? Well you would if you lived here. I love my life..

*

I won’t be around a whole lot this weekend. As my Dad is coming to town to hang out with his grandkids and the men are coming over to put a new roof on the house. woohoo!! (Tip: if you want rain in ARIZONA.. take the roof off your house. It will rain for two days straight. )
*

Everyone enjoy your Memorial weekend and I hope you find that moment of silence where you can say a prayer for those who support our country through the military. Whether you agree with those in charge, there are still men and women out there doing what they can so that you can enjoy your BBQ this weekend without fear. So I hope that moment comes for you where you can bow your head and thank those who give their lives.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy!

Pictures from the roof..

May 21, 2009 By Chris Durnan

So here are some pictures from the roof of the house. I took Monday night. Slightly cloudy and looking like it might rain, but wow. … I took them and.. well wait a minute wait til after you see and then I will tell you what I told my hubby…

This first one is the sandbox and I was noticing our new puppy laying there watching my kiddo play in the sandbox. She is never far from him. So the paths lead to the garden. My hubby has taken it over. and it is thriving with his patience and hard work. Right past that clump of trees is a big wash. Which is a dry river bed. So it is flooded when it rains, but otherwise just a big huge dip. It is probably about 12-15 deep and 40 ft across. This is nice as it is a natural barrier between our neighbors and us. I moved down a dirt road for privacy. Having grown up on a farm in Wisconsin I cherish space and not seeing the neighbors.

And then this is view of our “hobby barn” There is a tack room, my craft room and my hubbies office. It has an awesome patio on it that we tend to dance in the evenings out there. Thinking’ we are fixing that roof issue on the end this weekend that happened because of a microburst of wind. I love the mountain views. They are ever changing in appearance. And then there is the fort. Our horse shoer asked if he could rent it out if he needed somewhere to stay. I told him sure it has a fisherprice kitchen that comes with a grill and tool time bench. A slide to get out and a fireman pole. What more could you ask for. And our mini rv is in the picture on the bottom. Love the little thing. Drives like butter and it isn’t much longer then my Expedition. Fun to tool around in.

Then this is a little more to the right of the view above. Our horse pen and arenas. And our close friends live in the house right there with the big barn. We have two of their horses here at our house. For ease of feeding. Works pretty convenient as they cover us when we head out of town, but again more mountains.
So after seeing all this and sitting there in awe because I can’t hammer a nail in to save my life much less on a pitched roof with slippery blue waterproofing stuff on it. nails just keep rolling down the roof and off it. As my hubby toiled on our new roof and I sat and watched the view. .. My comment was… we should put on a second floor and move our bedroom up there to wake to these views every morning.. Well I think if he had had a nail in hand and the hammer swinging he would have hit his thumb and a nail would have fallen off the roof. But he smiled and said… Well you don’t ask for much do you? and he turned around and sat and said… well.. Yes we need a second floor after we finish some other things.
Love that man..
I am recouping from a nagging head ache that doesn’t seem to want to go away. so I may be in and out. And this weekend I will definitely be touch and go for email as my Dad will be here from Wisconsin for a few days! Woohooo!! So excited. Miss him tons.
Off I go. Have a wonderful evening!
Enjoy!

Chris

What a pleasant Surprise …

May 19, 2009 By Chris Durnan

So nice to get an email filled with Joy! and this was from Joy. Joy of Obsessed with Scrapbooking. Apparently she liked my site so much she posted a review on her wonderful blog. so I wanted to say Thank you Thank you Joy! what a pleasant surprise!
–
There will be an announcement coming up… Can you wait?? I am excited and happy about it… Well more on that later.
–
On to life..
This past weekend my hubby ripped the roof off and I got up there and helped him put down the waterproofing stuff. I know there is a technical name. I have no idea what it is called because I don’t want to be a roofer. Well I had to do it again this evening. And I got some pictures of our view from above. Very nice. I will post them tomorrow when I get them off the camera. I love my husband and I love to do things with him. On the roof I am okay it is the getting up and down that freaaakkks me out. And the ladder is fiberglass so because I have shorty legs My knee rubbed on the side of the ladder as I was trying to get around it to get on. So my knees are itchy itchy. (yes I had shorts on. It is hot!) the best part… well maybe not the best.. but slightly humorous. I have some “junk in my trunk” as they say. and maybe load on the front as well. I know this. But I was trying to get around the ladder top and on to it and my underwire bra got stuck over the top ladder rung and I was standing a rung a little to low to unhook myself. I think my hubby would have laughed had his wife not been terrified she was hanging feets up in the air hooked by her underwire trying to go down the ladder. mentally I was thinking.. if I fall how do you explain to the attending physician at the ER… well you see.. I got hung up on my underwire and couldn’t get free. Any other time and the dam things are bent, poking through fabric and nearly killing me… So yes I got hooked by my underwire up in the air on a ladder. The explanations would have been miserable. I am sure the fall would have been worse, but trying to explain. .. how woud it go.. well you see I know I have junk in my truck…. hahaha. okay yeah.. thank goodness my hubby has a steady hand and helped me unhook. He prides himself in his unhooking abilities at times, but that my friends is a totally different scenario… :: evil grin::
Have a wonderful evening!!!

Enjoy!

New Layout using CD00431

May 18, 2009 By Chris Durnan

I have tried out something new with this layout. I have used the tree from Chris’s CD00431 “Happy Birthday to You” file as I wanted to try a layout that showed a perspective view. The swing comes from a file by Aisne from DSS and I have extracted Aidi and placed him on the swing. Aidi was originally going down a slide, so I was quite pleased with the way the extraction went and placing him on the swing instead doesn’t look too bad…. what do you think? This is the first time I have made a shadow giving perspective, have I got it right do you think?

Thanks for looking,

cheers, caz

Ready to do some trades….

May 13, 2009 By Chris Durnan

Hello to all! Alot going on in the BINGO game at the forum so I am trying to keep up with the folks over there. Yeahoo!! So I thought what could I put on my blog today??… How about my Mother’s Day pic. I always squat down so my kiddo and I are cheek to cheek in the pics. We were one our way to the horse auction. Lots and Lots of fun. And I blurred the background out of the pic because wow Messy House. Anyone know how to put a better background in? I do, but haven’t had the chance yet. Well here is my kiddo on my 5th Mother’s Day. Pretty soon he will be squatting down to take pictures with me. Love him! Thanks to the hubby for taking the picture.

And… I am ready to do some trade.. I need some Blinkies for a few different projects. If you are interested in and have experience in creating animated gifs let me know. I keep trying to get to it and run out of time. Well really I want to create cutter files. I’d be happy to trade out some files or a membership for a quarter for the help. Really want someone with some experience. Thank you so much!!

Off I go….
Enjoy!
