Recipe Swap -- Side Dishes -- MAILED [Archive]

OK...it seems like the majority wants a monthly Recipe Swap, so that's what we will go with. Our format will be 6x6 and embellished, but not too bulky. They will be due on the first of every month, but we will have separate sign ups every month for each different category. Everyone will mail them to me, include enough postage for return, and I will swap and mail them back out. Chris had a great idea that won't put the burden of creating too many on anyone! You create 6 of your particular recipe and I will send you 6 recipes in return. So you won't get all the recipes turned in, but you will get a variety! How's that sound?

The second swap will be Side Dishes and will be due 8/1.

...here are the categories:

Due July 1 -- Appetizer -- MAILED BACK
Due August 1 -- Side Dish -- MAILED BACK
Due September 1 -- Main Dish
Due October 1 -- Dessert
Due November 1 -- Drinks or Soups, Stews Sauces (we'll decide which category later)

that will mean everyone will have their last set of recipes BEFORE the end of November which will be in plenty of time for Christmas!!

You are most welcome and (since it was your idea) GREAT IDEA! ;) It's a cool way....this way, we can basically have as many that want to join, but still only have to commit to doing 6 per slot!! Definitely better than the 20+ that I did for my last recipe swap!!!

I think it helps not to be anxious about signing up and having to do to many. I am stressed about time to finish mine for the appetizers, but will get it done probably the day i get back and ship out the next. wew. I am running out of time. But so excited to have the whole book!

Hey guys, I got mine today. You guys made my husband say wow! Then I explained what we are doing. He said this is cool, great gift. My DH really liked the Choc chip dip lo, but I can't tell you who did it since it was not signed. Thank you! I think you all did excellent!! :D:D

thanks Ginger! Meant to post that I was leaving, but got busy!! The ocean is WONDERFUL!!! Weather has been great! But the week is going by WAY TOO FAST!!

I actually scanned all the recipes....I can post them when I get home if everyone wants me to. We had several that did some version of an artichoke dip, several versions of a Buffalo Chicken dip....but they were all a little different! I tired to split them up as best as I could. And those that did 2 sets I tried to make sure I gave them 12 different recipes! Everyone should be getting them soon, they were all mailed out before I left!

My swaps went out priority today. Tried to get next months done, but didn't make it. I am ahead for next month, so should be able to get two months done to send at once. We are leaving for Michigan to see out new Grandson the first part of Sept., so need to be ahead of the game!!

I can't wait to see them to. The last one got all bent and smooshed. So I had a slight talking with the lady at our mailbox. I have them in the book shelf hoping they will unbend and had to glue some back together. rrrrrr. But anyways. That is my vent.

Aw, that stinks. :eek: It might help. When I mail photos to my mom, I put chipboard one one side of a card stock sandwich with photos in the middle. I guess I just figured all 12 card stocks would have been thick enough. Next time I will do the same thing.

I forgot to send them Monday but did send them Priority so you should have them Friday or Saturday at the latest. Sorry everyone. They have been done for a while. I'm hoping to work on the next batch and this time I promise to mail them as soon as I'm done. This seems to work better for me. :cool:

No worries Sarah. I fixed most of them and it wasn't the postal service it was the mailbox where I am at and the lazy girl that works there. She would have bent chipboard to I AM SURE!

I would just write in PLEASE DO NOT BEND on it at most.

I already picked out my next one. so I just have to find the time to coordinate it and put it together time. I have been really enjoying these. Thank you ladies!!

My husband made the Mushroom Rice recipe last night for dinner...............MMMMMM!!!! VERY GOOD! He made some kind of Chicken Shish-Kabobs with some kind of Japanese sauce...I hope he wrote down the measurements, cause that's going to be my main dish recipe!! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!

It's an acrylic easel that has three holes on the top, so you can put binder rings thru it and then your recipes on the binder rings. I'm envisioning (it's still in my head, so I'm not sure it will work once I start the actual process....LOL) an acrylic cover decorated...the recipes all laminated (back to back), a little header at the top of each so that I can punch holes to bind them....and then each "section" (appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, etc) will have a divider page of some sort....

of course, the recipes on the back will be harder to read since the stand is slanted....may have to think on this a little more! LOL!

Another thing I saw today was SU's 6x6 album....did NOT realize that our albums were binder rings...too cool! They used that (turned sideways) and decorated the cover! TOO CUTE!! So I may have to check into that as an option too!

Here's the picture from the catalog...I'm supposed to go back to my upline's house on the 26th, so I will take a picture of her's that is decorated and post that!

SU has both post bound (the thinner albums) and the binder type!

They come in natural, mellow moss, real red and navy; the binder type are $16.95 for the 6x6 size.
