October Celebration Bingo

Since it's our anniversary month and everyone is in the Celebration mood...For the month of October, we have decided to go with October holidays that you just may not know about. Things we celebrate... I know you all have got some layouts and cards that would fit this theme and we're just dying to see them! So Please share! :)

Here's how the game will go:

1. You will pick 15 Dates from this list words (see below).

2. You will send an email at VDBCBingo@gmail.com with your 15 dates. Also, please include your Forum name in the subject line. Deadline will be October 5th, with the first word called on October 6th. So hurry! Don't wait, get your list in today!

3. Everyday you will need to check back to this original post in this thread, and see if one of your words are called! All words called will be updated in this original post, So, it will be up to you to come back here and check! I will usually call a word a day, but you never know when I might call it. So you will need to be on your toes and check in frequently! Who knows, there might be more than one word on some days!

4. Once all 15 of your dates are called, post on this thread. The first to post, calling BINGO, will win! (We will verify the winner with your selected words that you emailed! There can be no tie, because the winner will be determined by the FIRST PERSON to post on this thread calling BINGO!)
That's it! This is one of those "must be present to win" games... you have to call Bingo yourself in order to win, so it's up to you to keep checking!

5. After Bingo is called, we will pick a "Biggest Bingo Looser". Here's how it works...I'll take the first 3 posts stating the number of words needed and the one with the most uncalled words from that group will be our winner.

So send in your bingo words right away and prepare for a heaping helping of fun along the path to BINGO! Who will win? The suspense will grow daily!

to take the ubiquitous prison gift of a cake with a file baked into it. The old English proverb "Blood is thicker
than water" rings true on this day.
October 1st is World Vegetarian Day:
A day when all are urged to partake in meatless menus, and for those already living the vegetarian
lifestyle to celebrate the choice that safeguards their own health, protects the earth, and saves
the lives of countless animals.
October 9th is Meet A Friend for Lunch Day :
Take time out of your busy work day to schmooze with your best friend!
October 11th is You Go, Girl Day:
A day for celebrating courageous women who go out into the world and accomplish their goals by never giving up.
October 18th is Long Distance Day :
A holiday to commemorate the first long-distance phone line that was established between New York City and Chicago
in 1892. This would be a good day to reach out across the miles and call friends and family.
October 2nd is Name Your Car Day :
A day set aside to choose a name for your car that suits its character. Let's just hope your car doesn't
have a personality like the one in Stephen King's novel Christine!
October 12th is World Egg Day :
Celebrating the egg. Yes, the humble egg, staple food of the masses. I wonder how the chickens of the world feel
about this day?
October 5th is National Story Telling Day:
A day to celebrate all those wonderful Stories out there.
October 3rd is Income Tax Day :
I'm not sure why anyone would want to actually celebrate the day that the dreaded Federal Income Tax
was made a part of our lives back in 1913, but I guess it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round.
October 28th is Statue of Liberty Day:
In 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated in New York harbor, and this day celebrates Lady Liberty, symbol of freedom.
October 27th is Boxer Shorts Day :
These comfy underpants first appeared in 1901. Celebrate the day by donning a pair and relaxing!
October 17th : Brain Cell Reduction Day
Whoever came up with this holiday obviously was missing a few brain cells already.
October 21st is Can Can Day :
Which commemorates the first performance of the popular dance circa 1858 in Paris.
October 24th is Match Day :
Today's holiday commemorates the day in 1836 when Alonzo Philips of Springfield, MA, first patented the invention of the
household match .
October 26th is Mule Day :
Remembering the first mules who ever arrived in the United States in 1785.
October 8th is Tube Top Day:
Commemorating the first appearance of the tube top, a wardrobe staple of the true fashionista. Celebrate by
going out and buying one in every color!
October 6th is World Smile Day Today :
Give everyone you meet a big smile! Harvey Ball, who created the smiley face back in 1963, also had the idea
for World Smile Day. Mr. Ball was concerned that his smiley face had become too commercialized, and decided
everyone should set aside one day each year to spread smiles and random acts of kindness all over the world.
October 14th is Monarch Day :
Nature lovers in California anticipate this day when millions of monarch butterflies return to Santa Cruz, Fremont,
Malibu, Big Sur, and other coastal California cities.
October 25th is Picasso Day :
Today is the birthday of the modern artist Picasso, born in 1881. Draw an abstract picture today in his honor!
October 30th is Bodybuilder's Day :
This holiday is celebrated on the birthday of Charles Atlas, the famous bodybuilder, who was born on this date in 1893.
October 15th is National Grouch Day :
Celebrate your favorite grouch on this day! Buy him or her a small gift, and maybe they'll know longer be grouchy
when they realize someone cares.
October 20th is Shampoo Day :
Conceived to celebrate the history of shampoo.
October 13th is U.S. Navy Day :
Back in the 1970s, it was discovered that the birthday of the Continental Navy was October 13th, 1775, and this
date was chosen as the official holiday.
October 19th is Dress Like a Total Dork Day :
How does a total dork dress? I suppose only a true dork could answer that question. In the meantime, have a happy day!

It is of my 2 daughters. This was when they met one of their favorite authors...Carlene Thompson another WV Gal :)
Both of my girls have made me so proud. All Heather wanted to be a wife and mother but after a divorce she went back to college and received 2 degrees. She is raising Presley alone and is doing a wonderful job. Presley is an awesome 12 year old going on 18 LOL. Heather works for a great Dr. and loves her job
Jennifer didn't even think about getting married or children until she received her Law degree. She now is married to a military firefighter and has a baby girl, Kate, that is just like she was when she was a baby LOL and is a prosecutor for Charleston WV.

No photos on this page, but it's the title page of an album I'm trying to finish for my husband. I emailed many of his friends on his 50th birthday and asked them to send messages to me with good memories of him or something that he would enjoy reading. I received enough to print and give one or two each day for 50 days. Some friends also included photos, so I need to get them printed and added to the album, which is mostly emails printed on different colored papers with die cut titles. We (the family) also had another birthday cake and presents for him every 10 days until the 50th day, to add to the fun.

He is a very special guy. He is well respected in his field (computers) and at church. He is in grad school again now to get a Master's in Pastoral Counseling, because he wants to switch careers to counseling. He has been a true encourager to many people throughout the 30+ years I have known him. When you asked for a layout, this was the first thing that came to mind.

Here is a layout of my daughter with her grandma (my mother). I admire both of them but my mother is just an awesome person. She is always so loving and giving and concerned about everyone else long before herself. She is always thinking about what she can do for someone else and/or how she can "serve" someone in need or a neighbor. I wish I were and try to be more like her, but I have too much of my dad in me. JK! I appreciate all that she does for me and our family.

Chris, you do not have time to make Halloween cards. You have files to do for the membership! Oh- is it possible to freeze a frame from your video and make a photo out of it? You could even do a few tiny photos in a filmstrip border and still scrap your little drummer boy. And you could put the filmstrip in the store or the membership. ;)

Just found out that I won, that helps sure brightens my day.

My Mother passed away early Saturday morning, so have been dealing with everything with the help of my 4 brothers.
Her funeral is this friday, so it's going to be a long a week.

Not really getting things done that I had planned.

I finally did some layouts using one of the groups of files by different designers. It was fun pulling them together, once I was healthy enough to play with the files.

This 2 page spread uses:
Beloved Keepsakes BK00270 Rock Band with
Darcy's Designs DD053 Groovy Borders 12" and
Chris' CD00449 Musical Inchies
I made the note shaped mats and the school name. I used a free file from a blog for the trumpet- don't know if I'm supposed to post her name.

I have another 2 page layout, but I don't know if I can post it in the same message, so I'll post it separately.
