View Full Version : Jan 14-20 Weekly Challenge "What can you do with this"?

Happy Thursday to you all.
This week your challenge is to take this simple file I'm giving you and see what you can do with it. I know it looks simple, but some times you can do so much with the simplest things.
In this file, you have: "Interchangeable Circles"
3 Scalloped circles (Petite, Medium & Large Scalloped) First row
3 Rings (each ring is a different width) Second row
3 solid circles (Small, Medium & Large) Third row
You can mix and match any combo of these for unlimited looks. You can use, cardstock, Pattern paper, chipboard or what ever you like to cut them.
You can Re-size to any size you need. (Put together the look you want, and resize the whole thing).
A few things you can do with this.
You can use these to make Gift tags, Embellishments for your cards or layouts, by layering them and using stamped images or sayings. Like one scalloped back mat in solid cardstock, one ring in pattern paper and a solid circle on top with a stamped saying. And you can use pop dots to give dimension.
You can resize to a large size and use the scalloped circle as a back mat for a layout or cut it in half and have it come off the side of your layout.
You can use for a picture mat, Journal tag.
You can also use the open rings for frame for a picture, use to draw attention to a number or word on a pattern paper. Like, a paper with numbers all over it, and put the ring over the birthday number.
Also, with the rings, you can use them as geometric shapes all over your layout.
These are just a few things you can do with this file.
So! What can you do with this? Use a couple layers to give you different looks. And resize if you need to. Get creative.
Every one that post a picture of what you can do with this file, will be entered in a random generated drawing and one winner will a $5.00 credit to my store. Please list description of what combination you used or if you resized so others know how to get the same look.
Here is a picture with directions, and the file. File includes AI, GSD, KNK, SVG and WPCv14.
You have till Wed Jan 20th and winner drawn by random drawing on the 21st.
Hope to see you playing along.

Well, I have been working on this 2 pages layout, And yes, I did Say layout. Okay, All my friends, dont fall out of your chairs. I know it has been 2 years, since I have done a layout. But have been working on it and it was going good until.
My Daughter came home, It never fails. I can ask her I dont know how many times if she wants to work on some thing, and she says no. But you let me go sit at the table and turn on the Groove and here she comes. Lets work on this. So I stopped what I was doing on the layout, and we printed the vellum wraps for the candles. Well, she didnt like how they looked wrapped, so we end up triming all 40 of them. They are now on, and she has gone to bed for work tomorrow. So Im headed back to the cutter. Im doing good with using this challenge and the January Sketch challenge.
I hope to post it may be tomorrow. Is any one else working on any thing for this challenge.

Awesome Card Caz.
I love how you used all the parts on that card.
You know, I was at a expo and seen one of the stores there, had these bags of shapes. Just different sizes, and thought it was so cool, with so many uses.
I am hopeful to get mine done tomorrow or so. Been dealing with a little bit of the flu. But feeling better tonight, so cant wait to get back to work on it.
Thanks for playing

Thanks for the lovely comments! I wasn't happy with the colour of the ribbon I used, the card needed something, but not white. I have since discovered that I can recolour my ribbon with my markers (Sugarloaf) and so now my card is sporting a blue ribbon which matches the colours in the card!

Here is my example of this challenge. I used the Petite scalloped mat, The thick ring, and the center mat. All are on pop dots.
I resized them to fit my Justrite stampers Wedding ensemble set. And it worked out perfect. I had to use a clear block with the stamps and some double sided tape to be able to stamp them.
I also did this layout for my Daughters upcoming wedding, for the reception page. Using the January Challenge Sketch and file. Just love it!

I was slow starting this one, partly because I really wanted to use my Cuttlebug (a Christmas gift). Here's what I just finished- and I don't remember how to post a link to my album, so for now, I'll just stick them here-
A card, using the Cuttlebug "Thanks" embossing folder, with one of the rings circling the words "Thank you" (which I colored with a marker), plus one of Chris' Butterfly Collection butterflies. Inside, I embossed a scalloped back mat with just the part that says "Merci" and "Thank you". I may glue something to the backside of the embossing; it doesn't look finished to me.
The layout uses several of the mats, 2 of the plain circles, and one inner ring, all cut at the original size. Plus I added flowers from Chris' CD00539 Petal Power and paper ribbons from Chris' CD00520 Ribbons 3 (both from the 2nd quarter QMC last year)
