Do you have cards made for all your friends and loved ones? I know I don't. This month, we have chosen 2 card sketches to inspire you to get those cards made. Our rules are pretty simple.... Use the sketches and the cutter files to inspire a project. Then post your completed project here. The sketches by Becky Fleck of Pagemaps (http://www.pagemaps.com) The cutter files are provided by our very own Chris Durnan. I can't wait to see your cards. Rosalie

I forgot to tell you.... Darcy has envelopes in the store to send those cards to our loved ones. You can make them and send them. What a concept! :D Rosalie

So I made this quick card (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/album.php?albumid=56&pictureid=540) to go with Crystals hot cocoa file. I used the border peace but stretched it out. I used stickles on the snowflake and glitter pens for the swirly tops and around some of the words. Thanks for the great files ladies. Thanks for looking. :)

I needed to make a card today to go with a decorated cookie tin, so I decided to use one of these sketches. I didn't use Chris' new files, but I saved them for another time. What a good feeling- to have it done already, so early in the month. Now I can play with the Grab Bag files. ;)

thanks for the lovely comments! and here is the file. I created it at 4X4" or therabouts, but cut it at 3.5" square to fit on my card :)

only in KNK format so far :)

okay... I have successfully got in into SVG and EPS format (attached in a zip), but when I export to DXF and then load into Robo Master, it says "no valid data" What's that mean ????

Caz, Ungroup the object and then save or export as DXF Robomaster didn't like it grouped.

Hope this helps...

02-07-2010, 12:20 PM
I think in KNK it is breakpath. .. I will try to get in there and see if I can work it out to an AI and go from there. :)
Thanks for sharing caz.

I might have it cracked... I opened in AI and then exported and it worked... had to resize as it came in teeny tiny :) but hopefully it worked

anyone wanna test it out?

ChrisDurnan
02-07-2010, 12:38 PM
opening in AI is the way to go because it will minimize the nodes as well. So you can export but have to make sure you ungroup before you do.

I forgot you had AI. :-)

Cards are not my strong point. Here's my example....http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=45&pictureid=559 I used paper scraps from my box (I love that about cards)

I used the file that CAZ provided! It cut beautifully.

I also used the bird from Happy Bird day (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/store/product.php?productid=16244&cat=0&page=1)

Here is my card. I used Chris's heart border strip from CD00659 to combined this with the Valentine weekly challenge too. The scallop is from the sketch challenge. I just had to use this lion paper though. It is soooo cute. The metallic heart paper and the lion paper are from a paper pack by K& Company.

I just copy and paste the links, opened your album, opened each page and copy and paste the link. The link is seen.

You can also, insert the link by highlighting the word "front" click the world with the chain link on it and paste your link. This just hides the link in the word.

Hmmm! That is what I thought I did. When I clicked on the link it took me to my album, so I thought it worked. I will just have to keep trying. I like the tip about the word link to hide the path though.

THANKS!

Ok, I used the sketch to make DH's Valentine card--I found these cute clear stamps at Hobby Lobby and just adored the little froggies. Here's my card, inside and out! I used pink glitter paper for the scallop and swirl design, I popped up the MY on the lettering and used a nestie flower to put the frog on.

What wonderful cards everyone has made. Here is my take on the sketch challenge. I used one of the swirls from the challenge for the bird's tail, a font for the other swirls, and punches for the flowers.

Here is mine. Finally had time to work on it today:).

Sympathy Card (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/album.php?albumid=5&pictureid=605)

I made this card for a co-worker whose brother died of cancer this month. I used Chris' Spring Swirls file (CD0057) and Shelly's Art Sentiments Variety File (SS0007). The Dove charm is from www.acharmingplace.com (http://www.acharmingplace.com). the paper at the top is Teresa Collins' Damask paper and I inked the edges with Colorbox Charcoal Chalk ink - need to use a darker black ink on it instead.

Oh - the spring file cut beautifully even after reducing the size to 4x4 to fit my card.

I decided this could be adapted to a layout (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=42&pictureid=607), but I needed to fit a 2nd photo on the page.

I used the challenge files for the swirls. The small one is just the center section, which ripped slightly when cutting and had to be trimmed or tossed. :o The scallop edge is actually an eyelet ribbon from CD00520 Ribbons 3, cut in blackout style.

I like this even better than the card I made at the beginning of the month. My heart is not into card making, but I'm trying. All your cards really help me!
