Happy Thursday Challenge!

Do I have a challenge for you. You all know how much I love stamping. So my challenge for you all this week is pretty simple.

Your challenge is to make a new card. And use a stamp on it any way you like . Any theme. Thats's It!

Your free to use Rubber stamps. Clear stamps, Foam stamps, Stamping wheels, ect. And even Digital stamps.

Prize: I will pick one person that submits a new card using a stamp (Please say how you used it, and what the name of the stamp is for others to know) by random generator. You will get one free file from my store. And if you don't see any thing, and need a special file for some thing, I will create it for you.

Bonus:
You all know how I love multiple winners. So how about a 2nd. If you make a card, use a stamp & use one of "My cutter files". I will pick a one winner by random generator to get 2 free files from my store. Again, I will design one for you, if you need some thing special.

What's That, You don't have any stamps!
If you do not have any stamps at all, You can still play along with this challenge. Because, these days, Using your printer is considered stamping. Go Figure!

How you ask! Well, there are a couple ways, and its really easy. You open Office Word on your computer, and type out a name, word or title in any font you like, and just print it . You can use a punch, and mat it and add to your card, You can even select a color for it to print.

Also, the hottest thing in the card world right now is "Digital Stamps" Which are the same thing as above. You take an image and Copy and Paste or Insert in word, resize and print, and color. You can even print on Cardstock, Vellum or glossy cardstock and heat emboss it.

Do you need a free stamp?
Well, we can help you with that, too!

Have you heard the news! We have a new Designer in the store, Kristal of "Digi Kitty" and she has offered to post a free file of hers for y'all to try out. How awesome is that! I dont think they are even in the store yet. We are happy to have her as a member of the More team. Be watching for her post in this thread.

So Who wants to play? I worked on my stamped card today, but I dont like it, so may redo it tomorrow. So get going, You have until Wed, March 3. I will pick a winner / winners on the 4th.

Thanks for playing along, Ask if you have any questions or need help with word or digi stamps.

Cant wait to see what every one Creates.

okay here is mine. I have used a Bugaboo Digi Stamp for this challenge. I have also used several layers from Sharon's Interchangable Circles, reduced in size, with slots added to thread my ribbon through.

Hugs (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/album.php?albumid=26&pictureid=603)

I am hopeless at colouring though, I need a lot more practice, or maybe (more likely) more talent!! :)

I worked on my card all day yesterday, Got it done last night, and love it, I was going to take it out side to day to see if I could get the stickles to shine in the sun, but heck, no sun today, So I guess this picture will have to do.

I will take some more shots and post it on my blog later today.

I tell you I can design and cut any thing, but when it comes to matching pattern paper, Im at a total loss, Jill and I Went through Joanns paper, Michael's paper, Bought 2 paper stacks, Went shopping in Jill Scraproom, worked on the cards, and I then came home and went all through my paper, and just wasnt happy with any thing. I did pick up this one paper purple with green stripe on it at joanns, and I kept getting drawn back to it, and lucky for me, it was 2 sided, so just went with that, So now I know, to look for 2 sided paper more, LOL>

I water colored the flowers, Im still learning, with lessons from Jill. So these dont look to bad, I later found it it was the water color paper, I was using was the problem, So I used a different one on the leaves and it worked better. So stamped and heat embossed. And water colored the flowers and leaves.

Used Nesties dies 13 on the back, and Just rite stamps, Thinking of you, on the center, heat embossed in gold, and Used nesties ovals on that. And added Ribbon, and used my bow easy to make the bow. And then used my new butter fly punch for the little butter fly.

Im sending this card to my MIL in TX. She is a water color teacher. And now has begining stages of Alzheimer.

Hope you like, it, Will be back later today to see how yall are doing.

03-01-2010, 05:11 PM
Yes, on this one I used water color paper for the stamping part 'cause I wanted to play. I used a nestie to cut out the oval, used my cutter for the scalloped one. I use le plume markers--I really have had the best success with them, they seem to last for years if you are careful with them and they have so many color selections. I also use a water brush to move it around once I put it down. Glad you like it. I had seen a technique on Jennifer Mcguire's blog about using a background stamp and then for the front image using a versamark type ink, but using embossing powder. It looked really cool--but I just couldn't see the front image well enough so opted with the black memento ink, embossed with clear, then colored it.

Yep, I love to water color, I use tombow markers. And a aqua brush as well.

I found this week on the card I did for this challenge, the water paper really makes a big differance.

With the versa mark and EP, If you use "Detailed Embossing Powder" you get the fell of the raised emboss, but you also get all the fine lines still. I love to emboss with "Detailed Embossing powder".

Make sure you get good paper,

DONT get the water color paper at walmart, it dont work that good. Get it at Joanns or Michaels and use a coupon on it.

Make sure it says "Cold Press" and either 90(will go though a printer) or 140 weight paper. (This wont go though a printer) but both are fine for stamping.

I've even used my pen tool in my cutter to draw on water color paper--but be careful cutting it, I learned the hard way that it can ruin your blade--something about too many fibers in it. But I've done titles, drawn things and then water colored them in. I'm glad you all like my card, it was fun to play. The detail EP works great--that's what I used on my card--it didn't work well when I tried to stamp over a too dark background with the versamark--my old eyes just couldn't see the outlines well enough to color in accurately. It's heck to get old!

I love seeing these cards, especially the springtime ones. We have dirty snow all around us here in Maryland, and Spring seems far away to me.

I got one card done tonight. I cut a cardinal from RM00030 Christmas Cardinal. I added a stamped sentiment (from an old Stampin Up! set) on top of a couple of punched scalloped squares. Chalk didn't show up well on the bird's wing, so I used a marker there and the stamp pad on the card edges.

Lisa

rsmobley85
03-03-2010, 08:38 PM
Aw! Lisa, love the cardinal card.

That was my favorite file of the season. Thanks for playing,

You know, I was at Jills all day today, and she has this huge window next to her scraping table. And while we were sorting stamps. A mated pair of cardinals were just out side the window. They were beautiful. She is going to hang some bird feeders right there so we can watch them while we work.

I had a stained glass cardinal in my kitchen window and it fell and broke, so think im going to cut that file our of vinyl and put it on the window, since we dont have any birds here.

WOO HOO! This is my 1000 th post, LOL!

Here's another card.
I used a free clip-art image from
http://karenswhimsy.com/free-flower-clipart.htm
and colored it with watercolor pencils.

The scalloped circle is from Sharon's challenge file for the Jan 14-20 Weekly Challenge "What can you do with this"? The word "Peace" is from the OrnamentVinylWords file from her blog.

I started a third card, but I'll have to finish it tomorrow. I'm too tired to play!

Sharon, the cardinal is one of my favorites, too. We see them in our yard pretty often. I grew up in Indiana, where they're the state bird, and I have always liked them.
By the way- I had been wondering how the slash lines on the tail and wing would work on my Cricut, and they cut great.

Bedtime now!

Wow Lisa,

Your on a role, another beautiful card. And great use of several of my files, Thanks so much.

Also, on your cricut file, I assume you used the SVG file right, I show in my svg it is showing the detail lines in the wing and tail as dashed. But I dont know how the settings work in the svg in my end of the conversion. So did it cut as a solid line or as a dashed.

Either way, im glad it cut great for you.

Sharon

lisaavolio

Yes, I used the svg, in SCAL2. But I imported the bottom file- the whole file separated, rather than the individual ones.

Those lines on the wing and tail look like lines to me when I look at it in Inkscape and in SCAL2. 2 end nodes each, with no other nodes. That's why I wondered if it would cut OK- SCAL never handled line segments, but needed closed paths. They cut as lines, not dashes, with no trouble.

The files of indiv. pieces look like dashes in Inkscape, but when I preview them in SCAL2, they look like gaping-open slits, so I chose the separated file instead.

Maybe I'm just behind on understanding the upgrades to SCAL2, as far as closed paths. I also have MTC, but I'm not as comfortable using it yet, so I didn't try cutting this file in MTC- yet. But I just tried looking at this file in MTC, and both versions look like the gashes in the preview but are dashed lines when simply imported- the separated looks about the same as the individuals. Strange! I will need to play with this some more. Would it help you for me to cut a sample of each and give you a close up photo? I could probably do that tonight.

Hm, thats odd about the way it looks.

When ever you have time, im in no hurry (Busy weekend , LOL) I would like to understand how things work, for better files for the customers. Thanks for checking that.

But again, Glad it worked out great.

Beautiful cards ladies. Sorry I'm a little behind today. :( But love them all. I can say I love Cardinals as long as they are not attacking the bedroom windows. Darn things attack their reflections in the house windows and truck windows here. We got them a mirrored gazing ball and it helps some but not all of them.

Congrats Tracey and Sandra!
