Here it is... the monthly challenge that asks you to show us your work with the grab bag from this month and possibly win next month's grab bag.

Which I HAVE SEEN AND IT IS SOOOO CUTE!!

okay... same rules as before. Post as many projects as you'd like with grab bag files showing. All post numbers with the grab bag pictures will be added into a drawing and you will win next month's...

Can't wait to see what you got!
Enjoy!
Chris

I extended the date on this to give folks more time since I posted it late. We will have two ending at the same time, but oh well. I love to see the pics.

I used the Bunny Border (LC0049) file from the March Grab Bag to make a wrapper for a couple of bottles of wine that we'll giving to our hosts for Easter. I ginzu'd (is that a word? lol) one of the bunnies from the border and enlarged it to make a gift tag.

OMG! That is sooooooo cute! I love the chocolate easter bunnies dancing border! Woo Hoo! Super cute! I like the way you cut and enlarged one of the bunnies to make a tag--I love everything matching so nicely--my hubby often says, does everything always have to be sooo cute and matchy? hahaha! SURE DOES! LOVE this Esther!

Thank you Kristal and Sharon. I don't do layouts so I always save the long border files to use for wine wrappers. So how often do I show up with wine? A LOT! lol

Thanks for your nice comments everyone.

Here’s another project from the Grab Bag.
Tina’s Diamond Card (TM00116) was so easy to cut and so versatile, I’m sure I’ll be using it for many different occasions. It’s starting to feel like Spring around here, with temperatures in the high 70s so thought I’d go with really bright colors for this card. In person, the colors go together very well but in the picture they’re a little off – not sure why. There’s some embossing and sanding and stickles and rhinestones. I also used one of Tina’s Diamond Flower Inserts (TM00118) for the center diamond and adhered it with pop dots. Thanks for looking again.

I got one done, finally. This month has been too busy! I set a goal to try to use only one file per page for the next 10 pages- I don't know if I can stick to that, though. And I intend to use patterned paper on at least half of them. (I tend to hoard that.)

This one uses LC0049 for the border at the bottom. I know I'll be using it again!

Thanks, everyone. That's why I mentioned my new rules. But they are only temporary. I am feeling the pressure of several challenges and RAK's all due in the next few days!

I did some rough math and realized there is no way I can fuss over each page and ever catch up on the past almost 30 years of albums for my kids. If I can use some pretty paper and one cutting file on a page, I'll get done much faster. And since I still take more photos than I scrap each month, I will always need new files and new paper. :D

Lisa,
Have you ever heard of that Assembly line scrapping. I think I saw it on Beki Ward's blog. she was talking about it. I think I need to do something like that :-)

I looked at it. They want you to use their kits, and I want to reduce my paper stash (but still buy new cutting files) AND catch up on the past 30 years of photos. :( If I understand, they have you make up pages without photos but using every bit of their kit, then add photos later. I wanted to read more about it. I found this:
http://www.clubscraptest.com/main-inspiration/assembly-line-scrapbooking/82
and
http://www.clubscrapcommunity.com/main-inspiration/assembly-line-scrapbooking/what-is-alsb
which has a link to their free instructions at the bottom, which you can access after registering. I just registered, and there's a lot to look at. I don't know if it's "me" yet. I also don't know if it adapts easily to 8.5" by 11" pages, which is the issue that gives me headaches every time I need to interpret a 12x12" sketch.

Thanks for the idea, though! I will post again if I wind up trying it. And, you should do the same. :)

I sometimes think if I just took the scraps from a project and did a quick layout with no title just journal blocks edges and photo frame spots. I could use up a lot more scrap and have extra layout laying there. I would already have the layout colors coordinated and sometimes I really like the reverse of what I cut.

Anyways! I am not sure I could do the assembly line scrap either. but I could setup to cut out about 5 different layouts and leave them blank to throw pics on at a later date and a title. this would work for me. hmmm...

thinking now!
ha!
Enjoy!

I have to tell yall, I do a ton of cutting for my files and test cutting. And I hardly ever use a new sheet of paper.

I have a hanging file box that sits on the floor next to me in my chair, lol. Every thing in that box is in individual file folders by color (each one has all shades of that color) then there is folders for pattern papers by color.

And when I test cut my files or make my cards, I always use whats in the scraps hanging folders first. Smaller pieces are great for punches.

I also get a supply of scraps from Jill. She throws them out and use new sheets of paper, so I get all her scraps. LOL.

And I tell you , I use a lot of them.

WooHoo! Thanks so much Chris and everyone for your congrats. This was a fun challenge.

Sharon, I have a huge box of scraps and always go there to look for stuff before I start in on a new sheet of cardstock. I hate cutting up full sheets, lol.

I have a tower of drawers that I keep my scraps in. I bought a 6 drawer unit and then discovered a two drawer unit which will fit on the top. So we spent an age sorting out colours to make it easier to know where to go when I needed a colour. Funny thing though, when Gary helps me with cutting, he still goes to the full sheets first before checking the scrap boxes LOL

Congrats to Esther!

I have been using my scraps, but I find it's even more productive to cut some extras while I have a file and bigger paper loaded.

I am not nearly as organized about my scraps as Sharon and Caz. I do hunt through my scraps before hitting the new paper, though. I save the smallest pieces for punches, but I haven't used many of the punched shapes yet. (The punches makers don't sponsor challenges to get me motivated! Or I'm not aware of them.) I punched a lot of shapes while waiting through kids' appointments, and I keep intending to stamp letters on them for titles, but I wind up cutting a file instead. Too much work to get out the stamps and pads and stamp cleaner. That means I need to reorganize my craft space! No time like the present...

Glad to see im not the only one that uses my scraps. I really like having the file bin right by my chair, its between me and the cutter, so its super fast to flip to the folder with that color tab.

And if you use a some green tape, You can cut on a 2x2 piece of paper with no problem. I tend to put several different color scraps on my 13 x 13 mat, and just move the origin to corner of the color I need, and go, and cut, and cut and cut. Some times can get whole file cut without out taking out the mat. LOL!
