View Full Version : Weekly Challenge April 1-7 "How many Items, Techniques & Layers"
rsmobley85
04-01-2010, 04:52 PM
Do you use on your Cards & layouts. Have you ever thought about it. Ever wondered about how many layers of card-stock and pattern paper you used. Or how any Techniques you used or how many items or embellishments are on your finished cards & Layouts.
I always think my cards are heavy when I mail them, then I got to thinking about it, and now I tend to count on every one. And my running number is 7-10.
So, why dont we post some pictures of our cards & layouts and see how many we tend to use. Can be already made cards. If you gave away the card, and have a picture, just see if you can count and tell us from the picture.
Please list how many layers of card-stock and pattern paper
then list how many techniques you use and what they are.
And then, list all the items and embellishments.
Then total them all up. You might be suprised. I know I was. LOL.
I will select one random winner to receive my new Easter layout file that I just posted in store. If you already have it, I will give you another of your choice.
You can post as many cards as you want. And I will give you a entry for each one. But you have to list your info. This might give others some idea for their cards.
I will pick a winner on April 8
Have fun!
EDIT 1: You Do Not Need To Create A New Card for this. Use some thing already made is fine. Enter as many times as you like, One count per card.
Edit 2: Since the file I'im giving is a layout file, Why not include layouts as well. So get posting, Dont have to be new!

Ginger,
The great thing with this challenge, You DO NOT have to make any thing for it. Just get a card you already made that is sitting around your house (yep, I have those, I never give out, LOL) Or if you tend to take pictures of every card you make, (Yep, I do that as well, LOL)
Just get one of those or the picture. And start looking at it and see if you can list as many as possible. and post the picture. Post as many as you like.
You have till midnight thurdsay.

okay, here is one for me.. using Tina's TM00115
Happy Easter (http://visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/album.php?albumid=50&pictureid=658)
I have layered cardstock, which is inked and textured. I have eyelet lace under the centre panel. I have used Dimensional Magic on the title and Stickles on the cut-outs of the Cross. I have also inked the card underneath the Cross. All the card parts except for the eyelet lace were cut on my cutter and I did cut the lace with my scissors LOL I also used my Xyron to attach the layers.
cheers, caz

Love it Caz,
Thanks for playing, What is dimensional magic?
Sharon
It is used in Folk Art as a glaze. You can use it to add shine/gloss to something, so I thought I would give it a try with my papercrafts.. works really well. I managed to created a raised glossy button from a flat piece of card by adding several layers and allowing each layer to dry inbetween. Looked really effective :)
rsmobley85
04-05-2010, 08:47 PM
Ah, I thought that might be what it is. We have stuff called Glossy accents. that dries in a dimensional form.

And dont worry about making some thing new. I know how busy this time of year is, believe me, Im behind again, So wanted every one to just think about how they make things in a different way. Maybe get some ideas from others.
I love seeing different techniques, and how colors are put together, Im so pattern paper challenged. Its not funny.

Ok, I looked through my stash, I don't think I had posted this one anywhere, it's a Dad's day card I made for my hubby last year.
I used a printed card base
cut the cat, fishbowl and used my pen tool and cut mat with my cutter
Behind fish bowl on inside of card is cs layer over the ziplock baggie--so roughly 3 layers.
Techniques
1. cutter for cat, tittle, fishbowl shape
2. pen tool in cutter for title
3. hair gel in mini ziplock bag for water
4. glaze/souffle pens on cat for dimension
5. distress ink on cat edges
6. fish stickers inside of fish bowl
7. foam pop ups to make cat stand out
So I guess all together--3 layers, 7 techniques

Glad you like it--but warning--over time the gel does dry out! It's not too difficult, can be a little messy, I found the little ziplock bags to put jewelery findings in work well, you just have to make sure they are the right size before you cut!
