March seemed to be a really long month for me. I am so glad the April has arrived. My tulips and Daffodils are several inches tall and I can't wait to see the new colorful blooms. Speaking of new and colorful, here's your new sketch challenge and I can't wait to see your colorful creations.
I have choosen a sketch by Becky Fleck of Pagemaps. Check out her site, she has new a new set of sketches for mini albums. Chris has again provided us with a few goodies to help us complete this page.

That's a great sketch. Now to do the challenge we do our page using the sketch & the cut files that were in the d/l? Do we have to use all the files or just what we want? And do we have the whole month to do them?

The bare tree and the leafed tree should fit perfectly over eachother so that anyone won't have to glue on all those little leaves individually, but have a different colored trunk.

And you can use any of the files or none of the files and create your take on the challenge guided by the sketch. And you have a whole month before the next Sketch Challenge.

I included trees and owls, but thought a palm tree and some seagulls would be good for any of those beach vacation pictures!

WOW Pat!! Awesome page. Love the sketch and the files. I am really going to try to do this one this month. I have been wanting to use Owls on my layouts but never had the right ideas. Now I think I do. Thanks for the challenge!!

The tree paper is from KI holiday line. I've had it since last fall.
And I love doing sketch challenges!

Thank you, lots of times a new file just makes me HAVE to play with it right away! LOL And I still want to use the palm tree and sea gulls, already have it cut out in black, just waiting for the right pictures! I could go all the way back to '87 and find those pics from Hawaii...and I think while I'm digging that deep I should find the ballet pics of my girls when they were 4 5 and 6 years old around 1980s. Got a few ballet files cut too! I'm crazy I guess...and I stay up way too late at night.

Ok I got my pics printed and my papers chosen and the things are where I want them. Just need to cut one more file and then embellish the die cuts and I think I am done. Hopefully I can get those done tomorrow. If not I will work on it a little at a time. This sketch is just fun to work with!

I was working with these pictures and the challenge sketch was just what I needed. I used a file of Chris' that I already had for the tree. I also went to the pagemaps website and used a sketch for the rt side of my LO.

This is my layout for the April Sketch Challenge. I wasn't sure about this paper but I guess it looks OK. I thought about swapping the orange and the striped paper but it was to late (may still do it later).

Anyway all the paper is either Colored/textured, sizzix, or DCWV. The big picture is a newpaper clipping from my rehab therapy, the others are of me as a little girl and showing my first year in 4-H. Wow that was a long time ago. LOL! I used Chris' tree and owl. The tree is layered with wood grain and leaves paper. The owl is sizzex hombre textures (they look like leather). I used some cats eye caulks on the owl along with a gel pen for the black of the eyes. The bottom Swirl is left over from another layout, so is the black border. Journaling is with a fine point pen. Thanks for the challenge!

Here is my layout for this months sketch challenge. I used the class photo from Teddy's class, that is why I covered up the photo, sorry. I love this file so much, and am thinking that little owl is going to really look cute, cut out of vinyl, on my wall. Thought I would free hand a branch for him to sit on. Will take a pic and post when I get that done.

Here's my version of the sketch. I must admit that I did not use the die cuts that Chris provided. I had every intention to cut the title and diecuts, but when I opened the package of Basic Grey, It had a tree die cut and I thought..... I don't even have to turn on my computer. Yep! Lazy scrapping. The second page is a collage of all the cute pictures of my kids jumping in the leaves.

I made an 8x8 double page for a baby gift for a friend, and I used the tree and the owl, wanna see? I made her 2 other layouts too, ok, I'll attach those too since I used my cutter on the titles, it was so fun. :)

I know it is a few hours into May, but I really wanted to post that layout from this sketch and DH had the camera last night:( This sketch was perfect for the first walk we took my son on after he was born. It was early spring and everything was still abre but the birds were back out.

So here it is:

and here is a close up of the tree. I sprayed some glimmer mist on it and put some colored tissue paper on the trunk to give it a little more dimension.

This is one of my new grandsons. He's now 17 mos, and I have another that will be 1 yr this next week, so I'm going to do same LO with his new pics. So, you see, ladies, between these 2 little ones, and a 7 yr grandaughter, and the rest of the family.......I have to be late! ;) But, I'm here! :D
