Challenge Preview… details to come..

September 18, 2008 By Chris Durnan

Drum Rolllll Please!!!
Here it is .. The preview for the next challenge. It is just chock full of some different pieces that I had hanging around my computer files. I hope you like them and want to participate. I will start sending out the links in a week or so. I have to work out some conversions to offer them up to everyone. We have a card with the weave style holes cut in them for weaving ribbon, a swirl bracket jumble, an angry looking big cat, a silly pizza chomping turkey, the words Happy Birthday, a gas pump, jack o lantern, spider, leaf border.. and and and. ..
I will post the rules for playing tomorrow. Including the due date, etc etc…
I must go get my truck tomorrow from the shop and prepare for our quicky lake trip. Just an overnighter, but I am looking forward to it. We leave Friday afternoon. For now. Have a wonderful Thursday and get your ideas goinggggggg!!! Because anything goes you just have to use one of them.
Enjoy!

Autumn file #29 and Yada Yada from Chris

September 16, 2008 By Chris Durnan

Hello Hello.
This is my last file added to the QMC for this membership. Please get into the QMC and download download download. The link is above in the center listed as the secret section of the forum. I made it to 29 files again. wew! Wew! Next quarter will be at a 4shared link. Any questions, email me, I know it is different, but is an interim fix for more and bigger changes for VDBC.
Then my next thought is … Karate!! Have you seen Karate pics of my kiddo of course not. Here they are. He is loving it! Mine is the blondie. I think he looks so cute in his outfit.

So on a political note and I don’t talk politics much with others because I believe everyone has the right to their own opinion and it seems must get heated when the talk politics and can’t have a general conversation. I hate to argue and try to be even keel about most things. Discussing is different then arguing. Politics does not seem to be one of those things. My only comment on the political agenda is VOTE. I sent in our early ballots because this way I have no excuse to miss the polls. No Lines, no running late, nothing. and how could the government make it any easier for me they will mail me right as an American citizen to participate in the process. So please vote. And yes I get a few emails here and there asking me who and why. And I am gonna say I will be voting for McCain and Palin. I can’t afford the other alternatives. I believe in making my own way and not being supported by other entities and working my fingers to the bone for the American Dream. So I prefer to not have the government tell me what I should have. And I pay for medical out of my own pocket since we are business owners. So yes I think the healthcare system and insurance is so screwy. Especially since we paid for insurance for 5 years for my hubby and the first time he had to go to the hospital they raised our premium. and he never went for a physical or cost them one penny up to that point. But at the same time. I want the choice. I want to have my right to choose which doctor I agree with on vaccinations and my own healthcare, so I don’t want government to be a part of my choice. Some could probably argue me into oblivion about what they think or shouldn’t think or how my ideals are screwey, but all I can say is… Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine doesn’t have to agree with yours but we can still live next door to eachother and fly the same flag. Respect my freedoms and I will respect yours. So please take a moment and consciously think about the right to vote. If you think you aren’t going to be able to go, send in for your early registration for your state. Get it done. I am excited to hear the debates. Can you imagine being a person who has put themselves out underneath the huge public eye to be nitpicked and henpicked about everything you have ever done or said. Wow. I can’t imagine. So do them the honor of voting. Honor their effort to be a part of the principles of America. This page seemed to have an FAQ with a listing of state information. Click Here. It is hard to find something that isn’t slanted one way or another. But I have to say I watched the Tina Fey skit from SNL and thought it was very humorous.

Okay I am off the lecturn.

On to other thoughts… and don’t read this if you are slightly squeamish and don’t like the word Butt. And by the way my child will kill me when he is old enough to read this. A debate to have with a child over a logical chain of events… My son walks out of the restroom pulling his pants up. He has his hand in the back of his shorts pulling up the underwear that didn’t come up before the shorts. I say to him… “wash your hands” he looks at me like I have grown a horn “Why?” so I smile and say “You just touched your butt” He said “my butt isn’t dirty I just wiped it” okay so calmly I have to think this through. yes in the logical sense of order you did wipe your butt so it shouldn’t be considered dirty according to the “wipe your hands rule and now they are clean.” BUT you just touched your BUTT. .. hmmm… so what did I do… I pulled the Mom card… “cause I said so” Technically he was right. But Mom Card always wins.

Have a wonderful day!
Enjoy!

Auction bargains and QMC

September 15, 2008 By Chris Durnan

So what an awesome weekend. We went to the horse auction on Saturday as is our usual jaunt. And then on the way home because we weren’t beat I said hmmm wanna do dinner? So we did and on the way we could some of our closest friends to see if they would like to watch Dalen for a few hours. (Their daughter is very close in age to my little ones and he lovesssss to go there.) So we had dinner at a little traildust town here in Tucson and then took him to our friends and then what did we do?? We went dust and all from the auction to kick up our boots and get a few dances in. A total impromptu evening. No one we know was out yet and the bar was very quiet. So we got to play some pool. I am horrrid at it and my focus in pool is to try to screw my hubby up by leaning over the pool table or asking him a question which is innocent, but could be filled with innuendo just as he hits the ball or bumping him as I walk by. Unfortunately, I am still not a great pool player, but it lends itself to great flirting and fun. We got in quite a few dances as well. We made it to 9 pm I was soooo proud of us. Used to be we went out at 9 pm. Now we head home to get the kiddo at 9 pm. And I gotta say I love it. It was like we were in our own world. We waltzed, two stepped and played pool, Was a wonderful time we got to hang out together and be silly and dance and remember why we like to be in eachothers arms.

So many times folks email and want to know what we got at the auction. I usually say hmm horse junk. This time we got a few other things that I really like. First is this little table which fits in our corner of the house well and I got rid of another one that was falling apart. (I am not a purchase furniture that is new all at once to match person. I like different eclectic with a general theme and color. So I buy them from antique shops, auctions, walmart .. anywhere. I am not to particular just looking for something that strikes my fancy. And those two mismatched chair and couch are on their way out. I just haven’t found the perfect replacement yet. It is a small room so they need to be not to much, but just enough.) So anyways here is the little table and it has a fliptop that opens.

And this is my hubby’s purchase. It is some bookends that have these huge rowels on them. I put them up on this shelf so they don’t poke anyone, but I think they are a start of his collection for the office we are working on.

Well on to business. Thank you to everyone who purchased the QMC this weekend. Please see the previous post if you want more information. Same great price. Just a new venue. Or you can click on the link on the right of my blog. and it will take you the previous post. Other then that it is Monday and I am trying to get one more file into this QMC, if you are a current member, please get in there and download them as quick as you can. Thank you.

I better get to it… Have a wonderful Monday!
Enjoy!

My files work on many machines. Some of them are: Klik-n-kut, Pazzle, Wishblade, Silhouette, Cricut, Craft Robo. Some of the software involved with these machines are: Funtime, Scrapbooking, WinPC/Signlab, Inkscape, Create & Cut, Illustrator, KNK Studio, Robomaster, DesignMaster and the list goes on….. Enjoy!

Quarterly Membership info for Oct-Dec 2008

September 12, 2008 By Chris Durnan

Please read these details carefully.

I will be hosting the next QMC at a 4shared link. There will be one folder with one password unless it is indicated to me that the email link and password has been compromised. I will upload to this section and announce the files on my blog as they are uploaded to the 4shared link. There are many reasons for this change and this is an in-between remedy for bigger changes in regards to “Visual Designs by Chris” which I will be unveiling over the next few weeks. The membership will still include 20 plus files created fresh and new and in all five formats: SCUT GSD KNK WPC AI. Instructions will be included in files as needed and jpg images. I appreciate your patience in this change and I will put up a tutorial regarding the QMC and how to use 4shared for your review as well. I appreciate your working through this with me as I take steps towards new things.

You can click the Buy now button on the right hand side of my blog to pay for your next QMC membership. I will be emailing the addresses that come through to PayPal from cdurnan@visualdesignsbychris.com. So please make sure to add this email address to your friendly list. We don’t want it to hit your junk email folder. And also, to check that email address you use for your PayPal account because that is where you will get the link and password to access the QMC. Links will be sent out starting Sept 25th or within three days from purchase(after the 25th). The 4th Quarter QMC will open October 1st.

I thank those who have been with me from the start of my blog as well as those who have joined the QMC somewhere in between. I love to create files and I love to come up with new ideas. So Thank you for your continued friendship and patronage.

Enjoy!

Chest Pounding Moments in life… QMC file… riding our bikes

September 11, 2008 By Chris Durnan

It is Thursday! Today is my little ones doc appointment. He is not thrilled about it because he will miss lunch at school. He won’t be really thrilled about it if he gets a shot either. hmm but I didn’t tell him that part.
So here is a pic of my little one and his Uncle (my brother) and his Great Aunt on a three man tube at the lake this past weekend. You can’t see me, but I am in the boat with my life vest on prepared to jump out of the boat if needed and get to my son. We were only going a teeny tiny speed. And everyone says he is fine. And He was grinning from ear to ear to ear and back again. And I know you have to let them experience, but I have to say my heart was pounding and my nerves were strained. And my son… MY SON WAS GIVING THE THUMBS UP THE WHOLE TIME TO GO FASTER. ugho bugho. This made me decide to call the swim place and put him back in lessons immediately. But all in all wonderful time and my family is so awesome. I can brag because they are mine. Love it.
Okay here is the next file for the QMC. With fall coming we spend lots of time with family. and these titles just speak to me. Great for any scrapbooking project. I will be uploading the SCUT version shortly, but already loaded the other versions.
I better get moving. I need to take a bike tube to the store to get a replacement. It has a huge hole in it. I have been walking in th emorning and riding bike with my son in the evening. It has been fun and he wants his other bike fixed so in the effort to get a little more fit. I am gonna get the tube replaced. I haven’t worked on bikes since I was little and had to put the chain back on all the time for my brother and sister. I also could switch the seats around and the handlebars and this was way before the quick release. My Dad was always losing wrenches. But I am blessed with a father who just smiled and asked that we return things when we are done.

My sister-in-law said she uploaded some pictures for me to see. Iwill post them here if I look super skinny in any of them. ahhaha..
Enjoy!

WOOOHOO!! and QMC uploads

September 8, 2008 By Chris Durnan

Woohoo!! I am posting in the morning. Yeah! It isn’t the end of day. I am not exhausted. I am excited. I have uploaded new files to the QMC in the last few days. I am rejuvenated from a great weekend and my brain is crammed with new ideas! I love it. I can’t wait to really get working. My little one is home sick today, but hopefully he will get better quick and with him resting right away it won’t get as bad as it usually does. My MIL is home feeling happy to be home. I talked to her yesterday and you can tell in her tone. She is thrilled to be out of the hospital.

Tomorrow I should have some pics to post for everyone to see of our weekend. My nephew’s 1st birthday and a day at the lake. fun fun.

Here are some of the files I have uploaded to QMC.

Off I go to get these thoughts out of my head and into cutter files. I already have a bunch drawn out just have to test cut. Wooohoo!

Enjoy!
