Card Using CD00584 – Dolphin with Sparkle

March 21, 2010 By Chris Durnan

I created this card for a Charm Challenge being run over at the Visual Designs By Chris and the More Team Forum at the moment. I cut the CD00584-Dolphin With Sparkle out of glittered cardstock, inked all the edges and added a Dolphin charm that my son had from a broken necklace.

I even created the scalloped mat myself which I was pretty chuffed with!

Thanks for looking!

Bountiful…

March 21, 2010 By Chris Durnan

Today is Sunday. I am taking a moment to write some thoughts as I work through my Sunday items. The usual suspects of laundry, planning the week and jotting down the necessary things to get done. My wonderful and lovely hubby has taken today to spend some time with the kiddo without Mom at the airshow. After building the Land of Endor Star Wars Lego they went on their way. The house is quiet and I have been listening to a few “chic flicks” as they are called and I do my thing.  It is nice. I miss them. So weird I know, but alas I do.

So one of my weekend fantastics was picking up my Bountiful Basket (Thanks Jan!!). This has lead to some seeking out of recipes. I have a few items I am not sure what to do with them. So if you have any recipes for Savoy then that would help. My first idea was to put this bright pretty leafy item in a beautiful glass jar with flowers out of the top. The tips almost look like they tipped with lace. Very pretty. But alas I should find something easy and healthy to do with it.  I am working on recipe for Mango. I do like Mango and so I was excited to see this in the basket. I have a Shrimp, Mango & Avacado Salad to make this weekend and also Mango Salsa for over pork chops later in the week. This is part of my quest for more fruits and veggies for the family. And healthier eating because lately it has been questionable.  I am very excited as is my kiddo because he loves to cook cook cook! For $15.00 and 2 bags full of Fruits & Veggies. Just wonderful!

With the summer and spring, we are prepping for fun plans and adventures. The windows are all open. The fresh air is blowing out the cobwebs. It really is a wonderful day. I can’t wait for my boys to get back. J

I hope your Sunday finds you getting ready for a great week and just enjoying life!

Enjoy!

Sketch Challenge Submission

March 19, 2010 By Chris Durnan

Here’s my version of the March sketch.  I really liked the long photo block and the white space. I filled the white space with a journal block since I do not have a 12 inch printer to print directly on my layouts.

Supplies used: Pagemaps sketch,Imaginisce patterned paper, Shelly’s Art die cut, Chris Durnan’s journal block, title 2 peas miss happy font welded and cut on my craft robo and Calibri font for journal.

The journal block reads:  Ice cream is defined by Webster as a rich, sweet, creamy frozen food made from variously flavored cream and milk products churned or stirred to a smooth consistency during the freezing process.  We define ice cream as Yum, Yum.  We have especially developed a love for Cold Stone Creamery, whose ice cream fits the definition of rich, sweet and creamy.  This summer we made regular evening trips to enjoy the frozen confection and each of us has developed our favorite combination.  We rarely experiment with the other flavors, why mess with perfection?  Andrew chooses cheesecake ice cream with white chips mixed in.  I love the oatmeal cookie dough ice cream with chocolate shavings.  Ben’s choice is always cotton candy with white chips.  Ethan picks sweet cream ice cream with Oreo cookies.    Up to this point, Nadia shares with everyone.  Although, I am sure that she is already forming her opinion for next summer.

My entry for the charmed challenge…

March 15, 2010 By Chris Durnan

I am really liking these little charms. Sandra on my Creative Team sent me a bunch a while back and so I posted in the forum I would send anyone a few charms to participate in a charmed challenge. I had a bunch of sign ups and have sent them out. (My little one was just bummed I was giving away “his charms”. Which he can just sit and go through for hours. ) Well the pictures are my working with the charms. This is a  little mini album I got from peachy cheap about a year ago. And I recently saw they were listed again. So I took them out and put one together and added some charms and rhinestones. And gave it to my niece for her birthday so she can add her friends pics to it. She is into softball so the little charms worked perfect. Fun Fun fun!

Enjoy!

With Sympathy #2

March 15, 2010 By Chris Durnan

I used this sketch again (and I hope my last for a while). On this one I used the back side of the black and white paper that I used on my first card.

With Sympathy is from Shelly’s Art and the swirly vine on the bottom is from www.visualdesignsbychris.com ‘s Spring Swirl file (CD00577).

I can’t find my container of charms 🙁 so I can”t add the dove like I did on the first one.

For the inside of this one I decided to stamp a sentiment.  The card is so tall that the sentiment stamp I have was going to look out of place so I cut two swirls from Sam and Hailey Design’s file and put them on top and bottom of the stamp. And after all my pretty work I smudged the stamp – lol.
