Rambling Thursday.

March 3, 2011 By Chris Durnan

So I have been working on my couponing and shopping. Last night my kiddo had “church” class as he calls it.  And so I ran my errands and picked him up and hit the grocery store near the church. Which isn’t near me. They had some great promos for meat.  So my goal has been to only use coupons for things we’ll eat unless I am giving it to the foodbank. We are on a non-processed kick. So the more simple the food the better. And yum the better it taste. Other then cereal. We are trying to avoid boxes and cans. Or only use the items I have canned. By doing this we are feeling sooo much better. I normally live this because of my gluten free but we are pushing the limits more. So on Weds the sales ads come out for the grocery store and this is “church” class day. So I can take the time to peruse them and hit the best deals while the kiddo is having fun.

I was super happy with my trip last night.

*3 family packages of steaks about 4 steaks in each. (promo buy 1 get 2 free)

*1lb of steelhead trout

*1 package of big shrimp (for D)

*2 snacksize tollhouse cookie choco chip mix – for my little D to make while on school break for his cooking belt loop for scouts

*24 bottles Flat of Arrowhead water – for the bday party

*4 boxes of cereal

*1 box of frozen pops real fruit by dole (to keep the fish cold on the way home) – impulse and waste of money purchase. But we’ll eat them.

*2 cans of frozen fruit juice (to keep the steaks cold on the way home)- these were a $1.00 a can. I am trying to find a replacement for my simply raspberry lemonade which is so pricey. This was yum. I made some up when we got home.

*1 water to go

*1 nestle pink milk to go – (I miss watching Charlie and Lola and her “pink milk”)

*2 Milks

Total $114

After coupons discounts bonuses promos etc

$47.00

(Yeah!!)

Fish was a big expense on the total but I was craving it. And I figured we would cook it that night. I don’t buy fish unless we are eating it that day. It goes bad to quickly on the drive home. My hubby cooked it up expertly. And my kiddo wanted the fresh shrimp. So he got half a dozen of the big shrimp variety that were GRAY! He was totally engrossed with the fact they were gray and would turn pink. I think he wished he could see it in the tinfoil.  They smelled so good I wished I had bought a few extra. But he chowed them down and decided that he may not like Broccoli cooked. However, Broccoli raw with ranch dressing is acceptable and much like being a giant eating mini trees. Haha.

and you won’t see any veggies here because I ordered from bountiful baskets again this week. We seem to be going through it every week now instead of every other. I need to finish up the extras we have left before Saturday and go pick up another basket. We got some extras this time. An Asian Pack (I have never used most of these ingredients. So should be interesting) and the 27 lbs of green beans. So I will be canning on Sunday. The rest of the Strawberries we have in containers and the green beans sliced for the freezer or canned.

Monday is the deadline for mailing in submissions to the Fair. I am considering entering one of my canned goods. But nervous about it too. D is going to enter his art projects from school. The art teacher is going to coordinate it for him. Yeah! So I need to send in his form to her as well. The Fair should be fun this year and my little one will get a participation ribbon. He is very excited about that.

Well I was so happy about my purchases last night that I had to post it. I am getting better about the coupons and even doing better about only buying what we need and not because it is cheap.

Well that’s my rant and ramble for today… Oh and my hubby bought me some new pants and shirts yesterday on the way home. HE IS THE BEST!!! Love him. I hate to clothes shop and he keeps buying me the next pant size smaller. Which I would be afraid to do just in case. But he does yeah! Love it! Anyways I modeled his purchases this morning before he went to work.  They all fit. YEAH! He is the best.

I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!!! I am off to work on my next QMC files.

Enjoy!

thank you card with Chris Durnan’s file

March 2, 2011 By Chris Durnan

Here’s a thank you card with another of Chris’s great files. You can find the cutter file here. I cut it once in green, then again in red. I cut the thank you out of the red and layered it on the green. I plan on making several of these to keep on hand.

February 28, 2011 By Chris Durnan

I have used CD00814-Formal Gals, a personal cutter file from Chris’s latest QMC available from Visual Designs By Chris. This is a photo of my daughter Rebekah and her boyfriend (now hubby) Chris and their school friends at their Formal in 2000. Chris’s latest file was just perfect for this layout!

I have created this layout in Photoshop CS3. Styles, textures and shadows have been added to create dimension to the layout. Designed to show that Personal Cutter files (Cricut, Pazzles, Klic N Kut etc) files can be used digitally!

New Qmc Files and New gallery

February 24, 2011 By Chris Durnan

These are added to the QMC at 4shared and the forum today. So stop by and pick them up.

The card I made with my Dad in mind. His birthday is in July so I am way ahead woohoo.

The cupcake wrappers I designed for Super Bowl. And well I am behind on that. So between the two I am ahead and behind?

Hmm anyone?

So have you visited the forum lately? We have challenges galore running. There is a grab bag for sale for this month and a challenge to go with. And we added an official gallery to the forum for you to peruse and search and see a bunch of wonderful creations and ideas! Our goal always is to help you use those files you have collected. I am sure over the summer when things aren’t so busy we will be using the Gallery to give away some cut files and gifts! Have fun seeing everyone’s work.

On to life…

I am tired. My knees aren’t working quite right. My head is pounding. It is rodeo weekend. What is my mental problem you ask? Ahh well.. It is sleeping on the short couch so the hacking 6 year old in my life can sleep stretched out on the big couch. We watched movies all night to try to clear our mind of the coughing and gagging going on. So today we take it easy and hopefully by tomorrow night he will be ready to roll to Nanna’s house for a sleepover. I had planned on crossing my fingers all day to help expediate this, but it is what it is. J Either way I will be with my lovely hubby, but dancing sounds like oh so much more fun!!

My studio has been a work in progress lately. I have been cleaning items up and moving things and donating and just trying to focus it on more useability then what it seems to become and that is storage. However, right now there is a large keyboard in the middle of it on one of my counters. My son has been pounding on it every day after school. He is loving it! Without a doubt. This makes me happy. I love music and all types of music. However, I do wish I could find the little converter plug for my big headphones. Only so much electronic piano play one can listen to. wew.

Well I am off to watch the wars of PS2 Star Wars with the kiddo. He proclaimed today as the day He could not do anything without his favorite pajamas. This is when I know he is sick. So I shall visit the library another day and see Pam next time she heads to Arizona (big bummer) and enjoy the little bit of time the kiddo can still snuggle on my lap.. even if there is a puke bucket next to me. “just in case Mom. I don’t want to puke on your shirt” “well thank you my love. Thank you!”

Have a great day!

Enjoy!

Scouts, Legos, School Day, yeah!!! oh & tooth fairy

February 18, 2011 By Chris Durnan

For me.. the picture couldn’t get better then that!

What a week it has been and it isn’t over yet. So this should show some of what we are doing. Yesterday was Blue and Gold banquet for Scouts, my kiddo lost his tooth, today is Lego Robotics, tomorrow is School Pride Day. Grandma and Papa are coming. Aunt Nannees and Uncle JB with cousins came to the B&G. My kiddo feels like a rock star. And the Tooth Fairy dropped off 4 shiny quarters! Next week, I’ll have some pics fo the banner I have been working on for the Lego Robotics Club. All in all it is good. But my hands are itching to create. So tonight when Dad and Son head to town to get hair cuts. I am going to creating node by node. I love to look at nodes. It is definitely a sickness I have.

Luckily, we aren’t sick anymore. We went to see a friend’s son play his last high school basketball game. My kiddo loved it. My hubby and I were grinning as we watched him bounce up and down and yell defense. He loved it. “So much drama” he told me with a big-ol-grin. It was fun. After we went to leave, and he got into a fit of coughs (He had been really sick and was at the end of it. ) and he is coughing and he is bending and I thought uh-oh. Yep he threw up. He coughed to hard. He did it a few times and he whispered. “sorry mr. janitor”. I so love my kid. We are finally on our way out and he says. “Damn, the ballet made me puke and now basketball. Oops bad word. Sorry Mom.” He smiled sheepishly. I had to explain to him it wasn’t basketball it was his cough. And it wasn’t ballet. The whole family got the flu. He said. “well maybe basketball didn’t make me sick, but Ballet definitely made me puke.” Haha. I had to laugh. My hubby took us to dinner that night. It was just so nice to hang out together and do stuff together. It really is a highlight of my life.

Well I must run and finish a few things so I can create create this afternoon!!!1
