Outta this world card

June 4, 2012 By Chris Durnan

I made a card using a couple of Visual Designs by Chris files.  #CD00735 Rocket Book and her Cupid heart border.  The card is for my hubby.  I cut the rocket and the exhaust trail from her files.  Numbers were cut from Quickutz Frankie.  Mini buttons threaded with DMC thread.  Moon is a 2 1/2 inch punch.  Star and exhaust bling are from Michaels.  I stamped the rocket with a word stamp and navy ink and mounted it with pop dots.  “My love 4 u…” and “is outta this world!” are Dymo red tape.  Added a white paper clip and red/white/blue ribbon.  I mounted the moon a little above the card.  I supported the part sticking up with another small piece of black cardstock.

Dolphin library pocket

June 4, 2012 By Chris Durnan

A library pocket for our Gulf Shores mini album.  I used the dolphin from #CD00584 Dolphin Silhouette.  The tape is Tim Holtz.   Crocheted border used as waves from Michael’s.  So are the blue pearls.  The tags were cut from an Accu-cut die.  Scrap ribbons.  Word stickers are from Authentique.  I printed dolphin facts from the internet.

Pinning Favs this week

June 2, 2012 By Chris Durnan

I have a pinterest account. It is stuffed full with brimming ideas. I always wonder what is everyone else pinning that reads my blog. I thought I would share with you a few of my favs that I pinned recently…
These are not my pictures, but I have tried to link right back to the pinterest board so you can add them to your boards or go to the person’s page and see them. (a 2 for one experience!)  I have listed their direct links at the bottom for those that would like to not “Pin” . Thank you to the world for such great ideas. You inspire me!

80 homemade substitutes for grocery store staples. LOVE this idea.
Learning about plants as they grow with a cd case. Wow phenomenal. this lady had some other great ideas on her teacher blog. So yeah! Of course for me I will use it for Scouts.
This made me want to look for gluten free pound cake to make my own. The colors. The yum. I am not a huge whip cream fan unless with something. not like my in-law family which are reddi-whip fanatics! but this looked good.  This lady also had Canning on her blog! Yeah!
This made me happy because I thought about summer and my son love’s to read.
but tends to go for the same books. I though this might open up his eyes to something
new and different. Well these ones made me smile.
Thank you to those inspiring folks at

Mustache Party fun….

June 1, 2012 By Chris Durnan

Recently my friend Lora had a fun birthday party and she made these silly mustaches for the party for silly pictures. it was awesome and so much fun. I cut the mustaches for her and and she added the sticks to hold them up. I love fun ideas this was fun! Silly and fun!

My son got in on the act as well. and all the other kids to. So fun!
Lora also picked up some silly face masks at Michael’s to go with.
If you want to make your own disguises and fun for your next party, Grab Lori’s QMC.
She has a file that would be perfect for just this silliness. I saw it the other day when perusing through the forum to see what she was loading for the new QMC members. Lori is the QMC lady this time around and I’ll be back after.
This is an EARLY bird File. So you have to get in on it by the fourth to grab this file. just think of all the summer fun parties with the “disguises” running around and the great pics!
Have some fun! Enjoy! Chris
PS for my friend Lori and my friend Lora. Yes I love you both dearly and you crack me up! I cannot imagine not having you both in my life although miles and miles and miles apart. It is the bestest to have you both as my friends. I find it awesome that you came together on one post. In a weird mustachey way. haha.

I made this thank you card using a file from Chris’s Quarterly Membership Club. I stamped the Thanks on a piece of green cardstock, pop  dotted it and the palm tree, inked all the edges. Love the palm tree and sun! Check Chris’s store out here!

Thanks for looking!

Fireflies and Lightening Bugs

May 31, 2012 By Chris Durnan

For Mother’s Day we made a few Lightening Bugs. My hubby knows that I love to craft. So he was happy to sit at the table with us and draw some faces and make one. Wow. Can I just say.. He is the best… I really cannot express. We had such a great day and that was the best for me.

I saw these on pinterest. We made them with plastic Easter eggs we got super cheap, Sharpie paint Pens for the eyes, Bic Mark-its, Glue for the wings, pipe cleaners for the legs, a piercing tool to poke holes in the egg for the legs and antennae, battery operated tea light. Overall looking at them you can see what we did. The best part was holding the clothespin to hold the wings in place.

So here is a fun photo shoot of our silly lightening bugs. We gave two to my Mother In Law and she loved them. Being from Minnesota, as they sit over summer on the patio with friends, I am sure they will be quite the conversation piece with friends. So fun.

Enjoy!
Chris

Clothespins helped the wings dry in place.
I cut two different types of wings and everyone chose their own style. fun!
These two below in the front are my sons cute smiley ones.
My hubby did the one in the back on the right below
and mine have the white eyes. So fun!
And here is how the light fits in perfect. And makes their little butts light up. I will try to get a night time photo soon.  My MIL loved hers and I love mine.
We still have another one to give my Mom when we see her next. So fun.

Turtle – redo .. paint suggestion?

May 24, 2012 By Chris Durnan

My Aunt Elise from across the country had these super cute turtle guys on her steps. There are three of them. I saw them and said wow how cute and they ended up on my doorstep. yeah! This is one. I got them and I want to repaint them in style. I have been waiting for the color inspiration. They are like the coated plaster.  I have no idea what kind of paint to use on them. But I found some inspiration color.

I saw this guys at my local grocery store below. He was quite pricey almost half the cost of this table set he was sitting on. Which was also suppper cute! I love those bright colors in my desert brown environment.
So I want to take some of the colors and paint those little turtles.  A project for summer. Something to keep busy in the evening I just have to add the right kind of paint and so there I am stuck.
They are not plastic. They are heavy but not concrete.
So any thoughts? I’ll take them before I start. I love them!
Enjoy!
Chris

Card: Thank you

May 23, 2012 By Chris Durnan

A thank you card with an Astrology touch. This card was created by Creative Team Member Sussann. I love the simplicity but I also love the Thank you Cards.

Here is what Sussann had to say about the card and the cut.

How elegant is this thank you card? It cut like a dream. It’s so pretty on it’s own, all I did was layer it over a patterned piece of card stock. Instant thank you card. This file is a great value, because it comes with two other card fronts – a congrats and I miss you card front – and an underneath layer with tiny stars! You can find it here – Astrology Double Layer Cards.

Thank you as always to all my Creative Team members. You are awesome! Enjoy!
